service stabilitrak message with ABS disabled 2017 Silverado ltz.

Recommended Posts

Hoping someone can share some resolution recommendations. Have searched this site for similar issues without success, although I'm sure they're out there.

My issue is that the "service stabilitrak" message intermittently comes on accompanied by a chiming sound. Park assist, abs, and cruise control (if active at the time) are all disabled. I haven't noticed any rpm fluctuation, or difference in transmission shifting.  The service engine light is not, and has not been displayed.

The truck has 123k miles.  Spark plugs were changed @ 118k miles.

Any ideas, suggestions or sharing of similar problems and solutions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Dennis

In my humble opinion, you may have a ground issue. Search YouTube on this, several videos there on it. Clean your grounds and see if that changes it or not. Could be something else but start with the simple first.

Then, down these:

Possible Causes of Service StabiliTrak Message

The Service StabiliTrak message is usually caused by a problem with the traction control system, brake components, or steering wheel system. A faulty ABS sensor, throttle sensor, or a bad steering angle sensor are some of the most common causes.

Right.  The "SES" light is not on.  Went to the local Advance Auto parts store and was told they couldn't scan it.  Is there a different type of scanner that can read a code without the light being on?

Yes most garages will have high end scanners that can read all modules that cost over $1000 with yearly updates that are just as costly so they will charge you for a scan and possible diagnosis. There are less expensive versions available that use a laptop and hopefully someone will chime in here and have more info on them
