You cowboys do what you want, you've obviously justified it in your own minds.

As I said, some people just never learn.

Alright I'll bite, what is YOUR trailer speed limit?

And you've based it on what?

We've all acknowledged that tires can fail - even "2 1/2 years old, with maybe 5k miles on them. Ambient temperature low 50's speed 60-65 PSI was correct and they weren't overloaded"

Would your magic speed limit have prevented the above? Nope.

So us drunk cowboys will carry on in our own safe and prudent manner while you look down your nose at us when we pass.

Hey how about them Braves??  Did you all know that we in the USA only make up 5% of the population in the entire world???  Now that can be a mind twister for sure.  I actually think it dropped to 4.5% recently...Hard to believe we are the super power of the world with only a fraction of the people that live on this earth.  No wonder other countries hate us so bad...Anyhow getting back to the regularly scheduled program.....Oh one more thing before I stop this distraction.  There are more galaxies out there then all the sands on our world....Now take that one in....I'll shut up now.  Be well all and have a great day!!

Wait a minute, just thought of another distraction.  I used to work with a guy that was stationed in Bagram and was the second officer on a spy plane that monitored air traffic around Iran while cruising in the Gulf of Oman.  He said it was hilarious how the Navy pilots would take off from the carriers and run wide open to the borders of Iran then cruise along their borders in international airspace just to piss them off hoping the Iranians would send up their aircraft for a fight.....I honestly really don't agree with that kind of antagonism but it is kind of funny.  Just another reason we are so hated I guess.  A show of power does wonders for keeping peace at times...Let's hope we all survive what's going on in the world today.

Wait a minute....one more if you all can hack it.  Those missiles that Russia was sending out the other day.  Some were focused on and headed to Poland.  Our American F15s shot them all down in the air.  No joke.  True story.  You won't see that in the media.  I happen to be lucky enough to be privy to this kind of information by chance we will say....Super weird times we are all are living right now.  God help us all if Putin decides to drop the big one.  Now there's more to that story too.  I was told that his missiles won't get 100ft in the air before they were deactivated.  How that's possible, I have no idea...I'm just the messenger here not sharing any kind of top secret info.  Ok....so the wanderer is pissed and think you all are cowboys....and here we go....lol...

Again, by whom?

This was back in the 1970s and 1980s. The national highway speed limits were 55 in the 70s, then they were raised to 65 in the 80s.

Nowadays speed limits are as high as 85. If they’re traveling at 55 mph on these highways they are creating a more dangerous situation than traveling at the speed rating of modern trailer tires. I can guarantee that someone is going to run into the back of their trailer if they are traveling at 55 before they blow a tire at 80. Which is why modern trailer tires are being built for higher speeds, as are modern trailers.

This guy is likely very old, or taking advice from someone very old. Times change, so does technology.

No, lol, that hasn't changed. It's still 65 max. It's like you guys haven't done even a 10 second google search.

For example, the legal speed limit in California while towing is 55.

And if you've even spent a few seconds inside a "modern trailer" you'd be less inclined to travel at 65 mph. They're put together by high schooler's with staples and a prayer.

All that time I put into a distraction did nothing.....Why are we still being terse here?  I'm not a school teacher but I had one that loved using the word terse...lol....knock it off.....We all need a group hug and I will certainly buy the beers ok? Then we can all get drunk and really pissed....LMAO.... Here's to different opinions and hopefully being nice about them all....some we can learn from, some we can brush off....but here's to a beer all ok... 🍺

Quite a few states allow passengers to ride in a travel trailer. Discuss.

Contrary to popular belief, the world does not revolve around California and the maximum speed limit for towing is over 65 mph for most of the country. Next time you should do a Google search...

But thanks for hijacking a thread about weight distribution hitches and crying about the dangers of towing over speeds of 65 mph, even though it is perfectly legal to tow at faster speeds than that in almost every state. I'm done posting about the subject of towing speeds. If you aren't happy with the current laws then write a letter to the governments of those states. I don't care about your opinion on the matter. Good day.

Nobody made the claim that the legal limit was the deciding factor.

Ya'll just cowboy on. If you're fortunate you'll learn before you take out someone's life.

Shooowee, the only Cowboys I see on that map are in Central Texas with that 85mph towing speed limit.  Daggum, 85 with a trailer is hummin'.  Regardless of your opinions, as with everything else in life, its all good, until it isnt.

Now to get back on track, if Im towing at 85mph, do I need a WDH?

Except the only example YOU provided was a legal limit and you have yet to articulate any specific data to back up your justification to label anyone towing a trailer over 65 as a irresponsible drunken cowboy. (However, I like the label and will wear it with honor)

Using the map above, sure looks like there is vast majority of the country would disagree with your claimed 65 max.

To be clear, there is NO universal documented limit to towing a trailer to 65 mph.

Meanwhile, sorry to contributing to the thread hijack, its been fun though.
