Adaptive Cruise Control problem

My 2023 Silverado High Country ACC is flakey also.......

It will sense a car in the next lane over and slam on the brakes when I start to approach it.....had it do the same with a car entering the freeway on the acceleration lane and putting myself and vehicle behind me in a panic situation that was completely unnecessary.

It's a hazard in itself IMHO........talk about getting rear ended when the brakes are slammed on for no reason.

Turn it off.......drive alert and use your own senses, not some computer and camera.

Perhaps the dealer needs to re-align the camera that is in front of the rearview mirror.

It’s happening on both sides of the vehicle explain that???

not sure how that could be an alignment issue….

Might not be the adaptive cruise, but the truck is seeing something that is causing emergency braking to kick in or has a faulty camera or sensor sending a signal so the truck 'thinks' something is there.

All '23 1500 pickups have UHY and UKJ

......or it's a piss poor design and/or implementation. Try mentioning it to the dealer and they say it works just fine.

During a test drive of a different 2023 High Country than I purchased, with the sales guy in the vehicle, it did the same thing. Excuses from the salesman abound.

Turn it off and problem fixed.....not worth the hassle or safety issues it presents.

My brand new 2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2 has been randomly braking, slaming from 75 down to 40. Absolutely nothing around. Clear day, straight roads. I've had it in 4 times, 2 different dealerships. Their solution...they disabled the feature. A safety feature option I paid for. I contacted GM corporate, they contacted the dealerships who said the feature works as it should. If it's working as it should, why disable it?

Hello, SHERYL SKRZYPCZAK. Please know our team is only an email away if you are ever in need of assistance. Thank you and have a great day.

This has happened several times on my fathers 2023 Chev Silverado.

Solution: Dealer says turn off adaptive cruise control.

Asked about a refund - they offered a free oil change.

Someone is going to be killed due to this problem...I suppose that is when they will be force to do something about it.

I have a 2021 Silverado High Country. Great truck. But the ACC has tweaked on me as well but only when going uphill. It's as if the computer is interpreting the road as captured by the camera as a collision threat and then braked very hard causing me to have to turn the cruise off as quickly as possible to regain speed and actually avoid someone from colliding with me from behind! Then...the ACC won't rearm for several minutes thereafter for some reason. It's frustrating since I do like the feature even though I don't rely on it to text or otherwise not stay alert. There are too many "non-alert" drivers out there already to do that! It doesn't sound like there is a universal diagnosis of the problem or fix either. Someone mentioned using cruise control without ACC. I guess I didn't realize that was possible on a vehicle equipped with ACC. How exactly is that done? Thanks!

When it activates, the text box that comes up should indicate which mode it is in, and how to change modes.

It's also in the owners manual

(this is from a '23 manual, but it operated the same on my '21)
