Your son and your insurance agent are hardly the authority on this.  The NCIB definitely are the authority, though.  2004-2006 Chevy Silverado (#1) and GMC Sierra (#6) are too contenders for being stolen.  Nobody wants to steal a Ram though, since it didn't appear on the list.  Probably because none make to be 20 years old.   F-150 was #2 on the list.  Most recent data is for calendar year 2021.  2022 data won't be available until around August.

I live 20 minutes from the Mexican border, and have a major port even closer than that.  But I digress, and I'm done flexing on that one for now.

Were talking brand new here, not POS 20 year old trucks. New. You're not the f ing authority on anything

I never represented myself as being the authority.  I, in fact, pointed to the NCIB.  What I am clearly the authority on, based on your response, is hurting feelings with facts.  Thanks for playing, feel free to discuss your hurt feelings with the NCIB.

Did he track his truck with the MyChevrolet app?

Will ask him, onstar said it fell off face of earth.

Why don't fobs have an on and off switch? so not constantly broadcasting rf

I'm tapping into the starter wire, hidden switch.  Then getting a fake OBD2 connector and shorting 12 volt wire to ground, in hopes of shorting out a thief's scanner. Always back into parking spot, ebrake on to make towing more difficult. Adding an alarm to go off if towed...jacked up on angle. The My chev app can email or text each time the truck starts...that shoild be a standard thing...as we would know the second it starts. My crappy Kia had that!

These car makers have to protect us better.

If you didn't do anything to your truck, and find yourself leaving it at an unsafe place...you can simply pull the ECM relay out from under hood. No one can start your truck and it will be where you left it. Costs nothing

I’m very interested in the relay option. I’ve also heard the fuel injector relay is a good option. Do you where either of those are in a 2020 1500?

Look in the GM Upfitter Electrical manuals.  In the one for 2013 light duty pickups there is a thing called the immobilizer.  This allows you to keep the engine running while not allowing someone to get it out of gear.  The hidden switch is introduced between the BCM and Shift Lock Solenoid and goes to the positive battery cable.

To my way of thinking, and I could be wrong, this allows one to remote start the car or leave it running or leave it off and as long as the hidden kill switch is on, the vehicle cannot be moved without the thief finding it.

I had similar setups on my muscle cars and the thieves left with nothing, every time.

I don't have a kill switch per se but when I am parking someone suspicious or just for a long time while I am on vacation I pop out the starter relay and store it somewhere safe. Not completely thief proof but should take up enough of their time to decide to move on to another vehicle.

been researching this also, was looking for fuel pump relay. Guess has module instead. Got all freaked out when co workers ltz was stolen in Dallas area. Didn't realize how easy these are to steal. Onstar was useless. Faraday cage or pouch is a must have.

Are you sure the pouch or cage is useful for the newer models as I have seen the latest FOBs will go to sleep after a certain time period to prevent this from happening.

I have been looking at Trackmate T11 GPS and electronic kill switch but haven't pulled the trigger. You can disable the starter and fuel remotely and track the vehicle. Not sure what it would do to the warranty. Wish there was a more official company that the dealers used and I would add this in a heartbeat.

Every truck I’ve owned makes a racket if you enter without the key. I couldn’t find my keys one day for my 02 avalanche. It’s easy to get in without the keys. When I opened the door the factory alarm went off. I always figured if a person managed to steal any of my vehicles I’ll collect the insurance money and buy a new one. Go ahead make my day.

I've been looking into this as well. Anyone have any experience with the Compustar systems? They provide an E-Lock addon, but there isn't much info into how it works, or if it'll even work with our trucks.

https://www.compustar.com/component/e-lock-relay/#:~:text=Starter-kill relay which prevents,Works with all Compustar systems.

Any data/details on how are they stealing our vehicles? I have not googled how to steal a Tahoe/Sierra as I will end up in a database somewhere

If you aren't already in a database somewhere then you're not living your life correctly, lol

I see that this device has a throttle lock mode that disables the throttle pedal and is an app, that sounds pretty appealing if the remote start still works.

SE0530-TC DLX Bluetooth® Throttle Controller: Silverado / Sierra (2019+) Suburban / Tahoe / Yukon / Escalade (2021+) & Cadillac CT5 (2020+)

Best thing though would be to end the vehicle thefts in reality........LOL

Vigilante style should be legal like it used to be for horse thieves.😇
