Question about payload capacity..

Recommended Posts

So, i'm hunting for a new Silverado RST to replace my 2012 Silverado. I tow a 26' TT. My RST must have the 6.2, because, 420 hp, right? I can find towing capacity based on the truck engine and max two package but i don't see anywhere it lists payload capacity. Is that dependent on the options on the particular truck? I'm probably going to have to order the truck i want as ive been looking and can't find what i want.

Depends on the options.  Their GVWR is 7300 for a 4x4 CC NHT, a regular 4x4 CC would be 7000.  That would put payload somewhere in the 1300-1500 range depending on options.

See if you can a dealer with one on their lot to send you pics of the door stickers.

Best place to find payload now is the tow label in the door jamb.  That way you can see payload for an actual optioned truck.

As far as the base payload for 2023 so no added options other than RST with 6.2 engine are as follows:

Crew Cab Short Box 4x4 - 1980lbs

Crew Cab Standard Box 4x4 - 1920lbs

Double Cab Standard Box 4x4 - 1900lbs.

So again, this is base no options so probably using an RST with 6.2 and only NHT added.  The more content added to the truck, the lower this # will get.  Bucket seats, sunroof, Bose, anything that adds weight.

Thanks. This is what i figured. I may be going a little overkill by wanting max tow, but i currently tow my 25' TT with my 2012 Silverado 5.3 with max tow and 218,000 miles. It does OK on flat ground, but i live in east Tennessee and we don't have that here. If i can find one locally with max tow, i'll try and look at the sticker,.

5.3 didn't get max trailer until 2014 new body came out.  Previously 2010-2013 it was 6.2 only.
