2020 1500 headlights stuck on highbeams

Recommended Posts

have a 2020 1500 and the other day used remote start and the headlights came on when the truck started on high beam.  didn't think much about it.  then parked and shut truck off and it took forever for the headlights to turn off.  then i was curious and started truck again and once again the headlights came on on highbeam.  went inside the truck and noticed the blue high beam indicator wasn't on.  flipped it on to come one but the headlights never changed no matter how many times i flipped the switch.  then tried turning the headlights off on the dial.  the running lights turned off but the headlights still stayed on.  when i pull the headlight relay of course they turn off.  i bought one will be here tomorrow.  have a feeling that's not the probem.  i noticed two 10 amp fuses that say high beam l and r.  pulled one and headlight went to low.  pulled the other but the headlamp stayed on high.  anyone know what might be going on?  i had a plow installed a few weeks ago and haven't had any problems.  my dealer tech said he's never seen this before.  thinking of disconnecting the plow harness and see if it fixes it.   thanks for any info

An educated guess - based on a similar prior experience:

Sounds like there's wiring crossed between the fuse you didn't pull and the high beam on the other side.  If the plow has high and low beams, I suspect they just connected the Hi beams together not realizing they're 2 separate circuits on your truck...

Good Luck!

so the following day the lights worked correctly again.  then a few days later i walked into a store and one headlight was stuck on highbeam again but other was on low.  when i came out both were stuck on high.  went to lunch at work and both were working correctly again.  tonight both were stuck on high again.  haven't been back out to run truck again tonight.
