2023 GMC 1500 Sierra Denali 6.2l and DFM

Recommended Posts

Is this "feature" being put in the new trucks. Somewhere I thought I read it's been eliminated. If still in the trucks, is there a work around? Or, just roll the dice and what happens, happens.... Fixing to order a 2023 this spring......i think. Time to get my first GM truck.

It is still on the new trucks.  When they said it was "removed" on the 2021's, it was only the chip portion that deactivates it.  The solenoids and lifters were still the same.  While the failure rate seems high, you have to keep in mind that GM makes over 600k trucks per year.  The failure rate isn't as high as forums and FB groups make it out to be.  Buy it, drive it, and don't baby it.

Yea, the mechanical portion of the lifters are the exact same no matter if your truck comes with the chip or not

I run my truck in L9 to disable the DFM, simply because I don't care for the system, even though there's no guarantee it'll prevent failure.

DFM can be disabled on your truck. I cannot stand DFM cutting out cylinders.

Pulsar LT, Range Disabler, and other DFM disablers don't work with the new GM computers.  The computers are encrypted with a key that is specific to that computer.  Trifecta Performance is the only shop who has successfully done it, but they aren't doing it at scale for anyone yet, and you will have to send them your computer.
