2015 Silverado transfer case motor help

Recommended Posts

Hey all, new to this site...

My 2015 Silverado 1500 5.3L z71 was parked in Auto overnight. In the morning it showed the service 4x4 message and is stuck in 4wd.

I pulled the transfer case motor and tried to cycle the 4wd selector knob with the truck running and also with just the key on and the motor gear does not turn. Then i checked for power to the harness and an getting 12+. So with my limited knowledge and advice from a mechanic friend of mine over the phone, we concluded the tcase motor is seized.

Bought a new one and before I install it I've read i need to manually put the tcase in 2wd.

Can anybody provide any advice on this install?

How do I manually put it in 2wd?

How do I erase the service warning, do I need a dealer to program the new motor and delete the warning?

Or maybe I'm not even on the right track with this repair...

Thanks in advance
