Questions on New 2023 Silverado I May Buy

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

Bought a new 2018 Silverado LTZ four years ago.  This forum was very helpful at that point in time.  Have been nothing but happy with my purchase and have had prior Silverado's and Tahoe's for many years.  Supply/ Demand is different now than it was a few years ago but I'm considering a new 23 at this point while mine is still in great shape and relatively low miles at 26K.  A couple questions I had are:

1)  Dealer lots seem to be finally starting to get inventory at least what I'd be looking at, which is another LTZ.  Are people just accepting and paying MSRP at this point?  Is the ordering process still 4-6 months out?

2) I'm aware of the rear window leak on these "post 2018" Silverado's.  If I don't get a slider, does that reduce the chances of the rear leak?  I'm prepared to do the "fix" that was in one of the sticky's, but if I'm able to get the LTZ without the slider, would that prevent that issue?

3) Any other major issues with the new 2023 Silverado's I should be aware of?  I believe the dash has been changed up a bit and there have been some electronic glitches people have had, but not sure to what extent.

4) I'll probably be sticking with the 5.3, which I've had good luck with on several vehicles, but I'd like to consider the 6.2.  It just doesn't seem to be as available on an LTZ, unless of course I order.

Thanks for any feedback.

Bob

My experience on ordering a 2023 and at my dealer lot for deliver to me.

Order a 2023 GMC Denali with Carbon Pro package, gloss black 22'' wheels, 6.2L engine, SuperCruise, Wireless charging.

Order at dealer 11-11-22 , in production 11-21-22. Delivery to dealer 12-27-22. Built in Fort Wayne IL plant.

The dealership was amazed at the build and delivery speed of this truck. They first said Feb or March ordering it in November.

MSRP no dealer add ons. $84000

No RetroFits on seats or steering wheel. Only RetroFit is for parking assist.

found fully loaded HC 6.2 with supercruise 850 miles away, they were advertising well below msrp (over 5K plus rebates) was no bs delt over phone for trade, brought my own bank check and trade was in and out less than 2 hours.  So YES can be had at below msrp, found several dealers that are doing this but you have to be willing to travel. NY to Michigan trip 1700 miles 29 hours total...............to save 6K priceless.

my 2019 trade was HC 6.2, compairing the two the 2023 is way more refined in every way, from no noise on startup to doors closing smoother every aspect has been better so far.

Too bad the 2.7 doesn't come higher than LT trim, it's the best engine choice, no lifters and blended performance/economy between 5.3 and the diesel (more 'truck' like) and least likely to give you any powertrain warranty issues, if you live at elevation definitely consider something with boost as they only lose .05% power per 1000' vs the 5.3/6.2 lose 3% every 1000'.

I had the 2022 full load 6.2 for a few weeks, lots noisier, if you like quiet relaxed driving and also start ups...the 2.7 is amazing for us older stealth bombers. The 6.2 I could hear start from other end of my house. I have to stick my head out the door to hear the 2.7. Nice in campgrounds or not bothering neighbours on early morning starts. How quiet and low rpm it runs on highway, towing etc. is also super peaceful and relaxing.

1. There are deals out there to be had. If your local dealers are stuck on MSRP, you may have to be willing to travel. You may not get as good a deal if ordering versus picking something up they have sitting on the lot. Inventories are way up from what they were so there are a lot more available, I’d look around before ordering. Ordering process could be that long, or shorter, or longer depending on what you order. Make sure your dealer communicates with you whether they have an allocation for what you want and what’s on constraint. Waiting for an allocation or waiting for something to come off constraint are what hold orders up for a long time.

2. they don’t all leak. I’ve had two slider trucks that have not leaked. I wouldn’t be concerned about getting a truck with a slider or worry about “fixing” it before you see if there’s actually an issue.

3. There is some glitchy-ness with the new cluster/infotainment system. It’s not perfect. I don’t think it’s really “electrical” glitches, more so software related.

4. Shop around, use the inventory viewer on Chevrolet.com. There are 5 2022 and 2 2023 LTZ 6.2 listed as in stock or in transit within 100 miles from me and I’m kind of in the middle of nowhere.
