Transmission problems

Recommended Posts

Have a 2017 sierra 4wd. Pulled the tarns pan to change fluid and filter because I had a shudder. Pan was full of metal. So I took the pan to a shop and they are saying I need a new torque converter and to rebuild the trans because it most likely ate up the pump. Does this sound right or is it just a shop trying to get over on me ?

How many miles? 6 speed?

Sounds correct. The torque converter is the weak point on these 6 speeds. I would recommend going to the 6L90 torque converter. Here's  a good info link

Yes, take their advice about the thermal bypass. Make this transmission run cooler like the old 4 speed autos did. That was the first thing I did when I bought my '17 & well as the Range AFM delete.

Your miles sound about right from what I see & read on the internet. I'm curious on what their cost is for this.
