Bed mat on top of factory spray-in bedliner?

Good idea about the rewards. I have some, too, from the purchase of the truck. I am not so concerned about the fit of aftermarket, I'm concerned about quality and durability. Where I live the sun beats down hard in the summers, and I'd hate to have low quality rubber degrade because of that.

That said, I am currently also researching tonneau covers. Retractables sound like what I want because, again due to heat, I want to be able to ride with the cover partially open when nothing of value is in the bed. Unfortunately, I have a short bed and hate that the canisters take up so much room. I also wonder about the failure rate of the roll-up mechanism. Of course, I am also considering BakFilp, but wonder if the sections become heavy or cumbersome to fold after a while, and am investigating whether I can switch to my rear camera mirror when the cover is flipped up (although I don't like the idea of driving with it resting against he back window, even if it is padded). Uh-oh, I just hijacked my own thread. 😱

I will snap a picture of the GMC Rubber mat tomorrow for you.

My Tonneau cover was a cheap as chips roll up kind.  Gator ETX - Link below. My expectations when I bought it was pretty low, I didn't want the added weight of a retractable or hard cover violin style. I also had concerns about room being taken as I also have the short bed. Got to admit I have been more than happy with the Gator. The slim line fit is also a major plus for me, I did not want something adding 3 inches of pad over the bed and covering the side rails. In the hotter climates when we were down in Arizona the cover done fine, very hot to the touch but that goes for anything.

Some pics I had on my phone for the Cover fitment.

I used the Westin Rubber truck mat (from Amazon) in my last truck which didn't have a bed liner.  It worked great and fit like a glove.  It went with the truck when I traded, but I wish I would have kept it and put it in my current truck even though it has a bedliner.  It really kept things from sliding/moving around in the bed and the extra weight was nice in the wintertime.  I'll probably get another one soon.  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L54PHVD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

Is the Westin mat as thick as the GMC one that @21GMC posted a pic of?

Here's the REV /BakFlip folded up. No loss of rearview camera. Resting against the rear is a non-issue.

Much as I would rather have a retractable, I can't shake the feelings of "more parts to go wrong" and "can't easily get full bed access when I want". Seeing that when folded up the Bakflip does not block the rear view mirror camera, I'm now much more interested in the Bakflip. A few more questions, if you don't mind:

Definitely not a big deal, but just so I know, it DOES block the bed camera, right?

I read somewhere that if one wanted to remove the top for complete access, instead of flipping it up, it's only two thumb screws. Is that correct, and can one person lift the top to take it off and and put it back, without help? And, would it be a PITA to line align it again?

I saw reports somewhere that said the hinge seals are prone to fail and water somehow gets trapped inside the panels so they become heavy over time. What are your thoughts on that?

That's why I included a picture of the rearview camera. The tonneau was folded. It doesn't block it. I've had BakFlip or oem rebrands since 2014, I think. Most of the years I was living in Florida. Extreme sunload (more than California) and never had anything fail and exactly why I keep buying them. Yes one person can remove it if needed. I've hauled motorcycles in the bed without needing to remove the cover. You're maybe over thinking this whole deal.

It was hard to see exactly whether or not the cover blocked either of the cameras, so the picture of the mirror itself confirmed it didn't block the rearview mirror camera, and my follow up question was asking about the BED camera.

I gather from the rest of your answer that you have not experienced hinge problems or water in the panels. Which is good.

I am indeed overthinking things, on purpose. I'm kicking myself in the ass for not doing enough research on the truck purchase itself. Maybe if I had overthunk that, I might not have one that vibrates so much, but that's a whole other issue.

Thanks for the reply.

As far as a bed rug I am cheap…..

I have a bedliner and a tonneau cover so I looked around quite a bit and found nice dark gray rugs that are 3’x4’ at HD….

Used two and just cut a couple inches off. Works awesome for $40.

I'm not sure how thick the GMC mat is, but the Westin mat is 3/8" thick, so it's at least as thick as GMC judging from the posted photo above.

CarbonPro bed liner, folding tonneau through GM, and the GM bed mat.  I don't like stuff sliding around in the bed either and I've always been a bed extender guy, but after buying the truck I found out GM doesn't recommend bed extenders with the CarbonPro.  I heard that before on my '20 with the bed extender and multipro (which worked fine, BTW), so I went looking around.  A guy on an AT4 forum installed it with the Lund bed extender and CarbonPro without issue.  Mine is already on order.

hell i was thinking of putting a plastic bed liner over my spray in just for protection in construction and throwing my bed mat on top.....rip out the plastic liner in few years and have fresh spray in still in great shape.....i have steering wheel cover and seatcovers just to protect the truck from ME!, lol
