Bed mat on top of factory spray-in bedliner?

I still have not put in a bed rug or rubber mat. To those who went with rubber mat, is the factory rubber mat thicker, "stickier", or any other way better than aftermarket? I ask because a friend of mine got an aftermarket, and it looks thinner and made of a more plastic-ky type of material which I don't want. In fact, my wife got a husky liner for the back of her little Mazda cx5, and everything slides around on what feels like cheap plastic. That's the last thing I want, because my original intent was to get something that helps prevent things from sliding around.

I have the GMC factory rubber mat because my CarbonPro bed is like ice. The factory mat is heavy and sticky.

Line-X Premium liner and a GM rubber mat as well. The truck had the mat when I bought it, so I just put it back in when the bed was sprayed. Most things stay wherever they are put. Light smooth stuff will move around on a rough road. I'm happy with it. Only picture I have of it.

I used the Westin Rubber truck mat (from Amazon) in my last truck which didn't have a bed liner.  It worked great and fit like a glove.  It went with the truck when I traded, but I wish I would have kept it and put it in my current truck even though it has a bedliner.  It really kept things from sliding/moving around in the bed and the extra weight was nice in the wintertime.  I'll probably get another one soon.  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L54PHVD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

GMC Factory mat for me also on top of the spray in liner of my current truck. Had the same Matt in my bed of non-spray lined SLT.

We carry two Kayaks often; the rubber mat does an excellent job to stop them moving around and getting scratched up. Same with other items

We have a tonneau cover.

Since you have a tonneau cover, what made you choose a rubber mat instead of a bed rug? And, what prompted you to go GMC vs. an aftermarket mat?

Why that mat over GM? Also, are they really that heavy?

I also have a tonneau (GM branded BakFlip). I have had many Bedrug inserts, full and just floor and tailgate. The reason I didn't go that way with my GMC is twofold. One the CarbonPro bed is pretty indestructible and looks good. Second, I got the GMC branded rubber mat for "free". I used my points from the purchase to get it. 20230213_183208.thumb.jpg.bb867fa17e761ab386c8c03544aa0f94.jpg

I wasn't aware that GM had a rubber mat - I didn't see one on the accessory site at the time.  A carpeted mat in the bed doesn't seem very weather proof and would probably get wet even with a cover installed since most of them leak to some degree.  Plus I think carpet looks weird in a truck bed.  I've done a lot of shopping on Amazon and have bought other accessories for my trucks over the years and have been happy with most of them, so I thought I would give this a try.  The mat is 3/8" thick and weighs 50 lbs - it was not that easy (for me) to get it up into the bed and unrolled.  It lays nice and flat, fits the bed perfectly and nothing moves around when driving (It is more difficult to move heavy items in and out, so a carpeted mat may work better if you do a lot of that).  It's made by Westin in the USA of recycled rubber.  I'm probably going to get another one for my current truck even though it has a bedliner.

The tonneau cover will leak a little in the corners, I live in the PNW so that's more of an issue for me than maybe someone in the Southwest?  The GMC Ruber mat i purchased for my previous SLT without a spray in liner. Ruber was likely going to hold up longer and be more practical for my usage. I went with GMC for two reasons. The fitment and i had about 16k GMC reward points on my truck purchase so I was able to use them towards to Mat.  I am sure Aftermarket mats would fit just fine though.

Good idea about the rewards. I have some, too, from the purchase of the truck. I am not so concerned about the fit of aftermarket, I'm concerned about quality and durability. Where I live the sun beats down hard in the summers, and I'd hate to have low quality rubber degrade because of that.

That said, I am currently also researching tonneau covers. Retractables sound like what I want because, again due to heat, I want to be able to ride with the cover partially open when nothing of value is in the bed. Unfortunately, I have a short bed and hate that the canisters take up so much room. I also wonder about the failure rate of the roll-up mechanism. Of course, I am also considering BakFilp, but wonder if the sections become heavy or cumbersome to fold after a while, and am investigating whether I can switch to my rear camera mirror when the cover is flipped up (although I don't like the idea of driving with it resting against he back window, even if it is padded). Uh-oh, I just hijacked my own thread. 😱

got over the spray bed liner ages ago, the sides never rust out, rubber bed mat only, if protect anything just inside the tailgate but even that never rusts out, scratches are whatever, cannot live without a rubber bed mat, everything else is slicker than whale sh1t on an iceberg

all the spray liner is is extra weight, also don't like the off-road packages with useless skids which collect mud, increase rust potential, and slow service techs down...take the full approach to simplicity and weight reduction, get the simpler models, less options, less bull sh1t, for long term buyers who like to mile out machines anyway, for those who flip every few years fill yer boots as all of it useless to you anyway except for resale pizazz lol
