So bought a 22 RST in March of this year.  Was not installed with the heated seats nor the steering wheel because of a chip shortage.  Wife went to the dealer yesterday to get oil changed and went to check up on the stats of the retrofits.  He ran my VIN turns out that it states that I have the steering heated wheel option but I do not have a heated steering nor the button.  Do you know if they install all that when the parts become "available" Does this make any sense?

Pre-refresh trucks are currently being retrofitted.  When they ran your VIN it should have showed an "open field action" and they would have been able to order parts.

The way I understand the RetroFit options, the heated steering wheel is not going to be covered. The button missing means the steering wheel is not even a heated model to have the module upgraded to get the feature. The way I read it was the steering wheel is too complicated to remove and replace.

My truck has the heated steering wheel and it actually works. The heated seats / vented seats however will need a module and another part that does under the dash. However, if your truck was supposed to have heated / vented seats and you have dummy buttons in the dash now, they are not going to replace any of those parts now. I have real buttons in my console, they just do not work. I finally got the letter 4 weeks ago, and the dealer just called today and advised the module and wiring harness are now in to go with the other module they had for some time. I am supposed to get that upgrade next week.

I actually have a better plan to trade off the truck this week as 3 trucks arrived monday with SuperCruise and I want that feature with the heads up, which is yet another item my current 2022 truck is missing due parts shortage in April.

My 2022 refresh has the credit for heated steering wheel and states "includes later retrofit".

So they will be doing heated steering wheel retrofits at some point.  The button is there, the module it what is lacking.

Some of the heated steering wheels did not get installed even it is listed on the window sticker. There is either a dummy button, or no button at all. Those 2 issues will not be resolved from what I am reading and told by my dealer.

This is looking like it's going to be a colossal nightmare. There's going to be a lot of angry customers if they are thinking they are going to get the retrofitted items that they had assumed to be installed according to the window sticker.

15 days left in the year. Wasn't it said at one time 2nd qtr of 22?

Imo it is on you if you think GM is going to years later go installing parts at no cost. That 50 dollar credit was it imo, of course now if you want to add this option back in, it would cost you more than likely thousands.

The last 2 years will go down as the absolute worst time to have bought a new vehicle imo, between prices being super inflated and the deletion of options with nearly nothing given back in return, these model years will be best to be avoided in the secondary used market too.

They will be doing the heated steering wheels.

We are confirming all vehicles covered by the previous announcement will be eligible for a retrofit process that will activate the operation of the heated steering wheel modules. This retrofit process will begin when parts become available and at no additional cost to the customer.

Option code 00G

00G - CREDIT - NOT EQUIPPED WITH HEATED STEERING WHEEL; INCLUDES LATER RETROFIT

Uh...you do know that they have already been doing the heated seat retrofit?  And they have plans to do the park assist and heated steering wheels next.  Heck, they are even sending hood insulators for the ones built without those.

Lol ok, i don't have a dog in this fight other then 3 + decades of experience regarding GM, and i will believe it when i see it. This isn't just plugging in a switch or something, i doubt gm will incur the cost to retrofit literally hundreds of thousands of trucks missing these items.

For all of your sakes i hope I'm wrong, but once again this is GM we are talking about.

Well.  Majority so far is just installing a new heated seat module for the heated seat retrofit.  The only exception at the moment is some Silverado/Sierras.  They get new HVAC control head and, in some instances, a new radio faceplate.

I’m not really sure why you believe GM won’t retrofit the items they said they would retrofit. It’s not going to happen quickly, as you stated, literally hundreds of thousands of trucks. Add to that every other vehicle in the GM line up needing something retrofit as well.

They stated features would be retrofit. They stated it on the window sticker, in press releases, to buyers on forms during the buying process, etc. I don’t see a path for them to get out of that. In fact, retrofits are well underway for a lot of people, it will just take time.

In most cases it is as simple as plugging in a module and doing a software update. We’re not talking about drastic part replacements here.

I can update on the heated seats at least.

Dealer I brought the truck from in April just called today and indicated the heated seats module is in. My truck does not need the buttons and faceplate. See below, too bad I just traded it in for a 2022 Denali.

I dont need the heated steering wheel as mine was in place in April when I brought it.

Dealer more local to me offered to get the parts on the retrofit, but, the heated module was missing, so they gave me the part number and I brought the module. It appears in 5 day time now, it still has not shipped from a GM warehouse like I was told it would. The dealer indicated they would take the part and install it with the other parts that did come in. Well, no need now, the truck is traded in today.

As of today, I solved the issue myself. I traded in this 2022 SLT 6.2L for a 2022 Denali 6.2L with all options ..folding running boards, wireless charging, and even SuperCruise. So many of the options missing from even the 2023 Ultimate coming builds. The only retrofit is parking assist. I could care less about it anyway, so I will not worry to have it installed even if I can in the future.

I got one of those $3000 credit from GM for the cancelation of my Ultimate order from last January, I decided that $3000 and my $3000 would put me in a fully loaded Denali and solve the issue of heated seats and SuperCruise. 54 miles so far and it is nice to have heated leather seats now.
