Recommended Posts

Quick update on my end I have already installed my mirror and ran power I just need to route my camera and drill the hole I’m expecting to finish possibly next weekend since we’re going to be getting some rain these upcoming days.

Does the mirror have the ONSTAR Button on it ?

that's the only thing that keeps me from doing it . Wish there was a video mirror with OnStar ...

Yes no onstar button I got rid of my onstar when I upgraded my stereo head unit.

Alright finally had time to work on this MOD to start off when installing the camera on the 3rd brake light I went oversized on the diameter my mistake. Next when bonding the camera to the light try to use a thick adhesive instead of using crazy glue this will help the camera sit more securely. I bought a 3rd brake light from offer up for 20 dollars OEM which I used as a mock up. Overall I like the MOD at the end I sealed the hole with black RTV to cover the oversized diameter I will attach photos let me know if y’all have any questions I’ll be more than gladly to help.

Yeah, that's how I felt too. But if you still have the OE head unit, you can still use the OnStar app on there. Was trying it today. You can also use the voice command button on the steering wheel to call OnStar. At least that's what the app was telling me I could also do. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I'm perfectly happy without OnStar. So it's a win for me

When I bought my truck, I believe I had the free 5 year basic plan. So got used to it and using the my Chevrolet app. I setup the perimeter notifications on the app and use find my car. If I get really lazy, I have Alexa or Google start my truck for me.. 😅 Plus I like the monthly diagnostic reports. Everything seems to be a subscription now a days. 😩

Yeah I didn't get that with mine. I hate that there's no navigation without the OnStar. Will probably do Ipad setup in the future and move the radio screen down to the center console

I take it you don't have Android Auto or Apple Car play? Android auto is the only thing on my screen when I'm driving..

I do in the 2018 but it wasn't available in 2014. I'm undecided on getting the reprogramming update from white Automotive and media or going ipad for the 2014. I use the hell out of Android Auto in the 2018.

I didn't even bother looking past the button feature to contact OnStar  , as I think I've

only ever used the button once & it was for a quick question . I'm going to try it when I

i get back home this weekend & go from there . Thank You !!!
