Steering wheel bump to center when applying brakes in a corner.

If it has the digital steering assist, when tow/haul is turned on it changes the assist that the power steering assist module provides.  If I were to guess as to why you notice this "bump" and then don't, in tow/haul at faster speeds it gives less assist than if tow/haul is off, so the steering feel is more true unassisted as if it was a regular truck without that digital assist.  I bet the wheel "bumps" more noticeably because of the assist.

Being yours is a Custom(?) I don't think it has the assist unless GM added it at some point, so I find it interesting that it changes for you.

"The TOW/HAUL feature will change the amount of assist provided. The power steering system will still provide more assist at lower speeds and less assist at higher speeds with TOW/HAUL enabled. However, with TOW/HAUL enabled, the amount of assist provided at higher speeds will be less than what it provided with TOW/HAUL disabled. This is to account for the front axle mass being lower during towing."

Today I tried it TH mode unloaded and it does have that bump.  The only thing I can think of is that when towing the camper, it reduces the weight on my front axle by 400lbs using a load leveling/sway control hitch.  That reduction in weight is what must make it go away, not because it's in TH mode.  Thank you again for helping me figure this out.  I really do appreciate it.

As a quick update on this issue, my beloved beast is at a GMC dealer now for several days to try and figure this out.  I finally had the opportunity to drop it off with them as my wife is going out of town for 10 days or so.  That way I can use her Explorer while she's gone.  Loner cars here in Atlanta are unheard of, so you have to deal with that as an added bonus (big city life sucks).  I would have taken it to the local Chevy dealer but I wouldn't take my lawn mower to them for work.  Anyhow I guess time will tell and I'll be sure to update you all on what they find.  The beast now has 6600 miles on it and it has had this weird bump to center since day 1 at 8 miles.  So it should be interesting to see what they find out.  I asked them to send me pics of what they found out, I honestly doubt they will but hey, I at least asked...lol...

I feel naked without my beast.  Today my wife took me to work, dropped me off then came back 12 hours later and picked me up.  This doesn't feel right.  I have gotten so attached to that truck.  I've put all of those miles on it, my wife won't drive it.  She's a little squirt, and loves riding in it but won't even entertain the option of driving it...lol....I miss my beast and I don't like it being molested by others even if it does need a little TLC.  Is there a 1-800 number I can call for emotional support?  🤣

Finally got a call from the dealership today.  They couldn't figure it out so they got a GM rep involved.  The rep said it was normal and was caused by the hydroboost system.  I find it hard to believe that it's normal but that's the end of that story.  She did say they tested a few of the new 2500's on the their lot and none of them did it, that's the reason they got a rep involved.  So I guess it's "normal".  Not exactly the outcome I was hoping for but that's the outcome.

They are hoping you don’t have time to deal with that bs answer. Say to them “if it’s normal, why do none of the trucks on the lot or gm forum do it?”

Say well you better get all these other trucks in the shop before they are sold.

they will ask why.

you say, “because it’s not normal to not be doing what my truck is” haha

Very frustrating and I don't have the time for it to sit there for weeks.  As it is its been there 7 days.  Yeah I don't know what to do about it.  Basically nothing I guess at this point.  If it starts to get worse with time I at least have a record of it being looked at.  I will say it has never changed.  It did it from day 1 with only 8 miles on the odometer and now at 6600 is still exactly the same.  In all honesty it's not really that big of a deal, it's not like the steering wheel is trying to rip itself out of my hands.  Just a small bump in corners is all.  So I guess I'll just live it with and chalk it up to....whatever for now unless it starts to get worse.  Then of course I'll hit them hard about it.
