It just spun the tires and was even worse because the G80 didn't kick in for a second so you had one wheel spin before the other caught then both spun. I didn't run any in 4 high, only 4 auto. I don't know if the transfer case actually disengaged after launch or not. Try 4wd and mash the pedal, then switch to 2wd asap. It’s actually hard to reach and press the button. Where in Michigan? What track do you go to?
SILVER SLED
This is from the draggy, the .48 run and the history of runs. The number 3 and number 2 runs were back to back. #3 in sport mode and #2 in tow/haul mode. Edited November 24, 2022 by SILVER SLED

Where in Michigan? What track do you go to? I'd rather not blow up the system trying to switch while under full throttle! I'm just East of Grand Rapids. I run at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, MI. 1
SILVER SLED
I forgot I did replace the muffler with a $50 aftermarket straight through bullet muffler. Not saying it helped any, just forgot to mention it in the original post. Sorry.

If you mash the gas pedal in 2wd you would sit there and spin the tires. So to get a good launch in two wheel drive you would have to cut the power on launch (feather the gas pedal) a lot more than is lost in being in 4wd. So in this stock truck launching in 4wd would win the race. I do quickly shift out of 4wd after moving. Now a modded 2wd truck that has less weight in front, and some suspension work done, with slicks and skinnies would start to overcome the 4wd advantage. Interesting that yours will shift from 4 to 2wd while under power, I have tried this a dozen or more times and mine will not until I let off the throttle and even then it takes at least 8 to 10 seconds to do it so by the time you launch the truck and reach down and push the button the race is over. Not doubting your word, just find it interesting

I had an 18 6.2 8 speed and a 15 5.3 6 speed and they would also shift out of 4wd hi to 2wd at full throttle.
INTJ
I wish I had run my 2020 6.2 Max tow 4WD on the strip. I had the GM performance intake and exhaust. The truck had 3.42 gears. I have owned a lot of different pickups, and have had three tuned 2500 Duramaxes. I now have a 2022 2500 HD with the l5p Duramax. I think my 6.2 would beat all the DMaxes handily when they were stock.
