Driver Door Rust - Options?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! Thanks for taking the time to check out my thread.

So, I know this issue is not exclusive to our GM trucks and is fairly universal across all brands, but I can't seem to find anything about anyone having talking about this issue for the K2XX on these forums. Maybe I just got the short end of the stick?

Long story short, I was very disheartened to find that the bottom of my driver side door is rusting a bit. Now, I'm no stranger to rust on this truck, the frame is covered in it, but this is the first sign of it on the actual painted exterior of the truck, and it's really bugging me. I've been very OCD when it comes to areas such as this, and it is almost like this literally appeared out of nowhere over the past couple months

So, do you guys have any suggestions about tackling this?

I know that photos aren't going to do much justice, but take a look at the attached below. I'm not too concerned about the surface rust on the edge, mainly just the stuff that made the paint flake off like paper. On the positive side, it is just in this one spot that you see in the picture, the rest of the bottom section of the door is fine. It is also pretty hidden from people's eyes, so if I were to do a hack repair job I don't think anyone would notice.

Please let me know what you think. Please note that I am not concerned with cosmetic appearances, I just don't want there to be an eventual hole in my door. If I can halt the progress, that's all I care about. I have never dealt with rust in this area, so apologies in advance if I seem a little ignorant.

Thank you!
