Outside diameter of tailpipe on 2.7L Silverado

I am looking at a Christmas gift for someone with this truck and I suspect me measuring his tailpipe with my cailpers might tip him off. 

Does anyone know this dimension so I can order the correct size ?

2.7 is 3 inch.
