Fluid film- clunking sound, leaf spring noise

Recommended Posts

Did not realize fluid film would cause the leaf springs to be so noisy.

I’ve degreased and cleaned springs and bushings pretty well, but they are still super loud on small bumps going slow or turning.

im wondering what other components, in front end as well could be causing a sort of popping or clunking sound in front end.

I know the rear end is noisy now, but it almost sounds like front end popping at slow speeds as well..

weird issue but any one else have this? Or any body have any ideas?

Had not made the correlation until doing some googling. Noise started almost immediately after application of fluid film undercoating.

began reading that leaf springs should never be lubricated.

then after degreasing, there is still some noise, I am trying to figure out if there are any other suspension items that could pop or creak from lubrication.

I used fluid film under my truck and there is no clunking but I also was careful not to spray in the actual frame or into the joints of places like the leaf springs. The springs themselves were coated as well as inside the bed access holes, rocker access holes, inside of all metal panels from behind, all non waxed crossmembers and suspension arms and axle/diff. As well as inside both bumpers.

I also used a brush for some of the suspension and steering components up front.

I blasted my last truck (tundra)everywhere underneath including all over the leaf assembly for five years and never heard any clunking either.
