THE TRUCK IS ALMOST HERE

Recommended Posts

I use to be a truck buying enthusiast. Usually every two years. I drove a lot. One period I had a 94,95 Ram, 97, 99 Ford, 01 GMC, 02 Ford, 04 z71, 06 trailblazer ss, 08 Ram, and so on. So I usually bought deals so I wouldn’t  lose on the trade. I usually bought leftover and last year’s model at deep discounts. Getting a new 22 coming in the 23 model year unless deeply discounted. Wouldn’t excite me. My thoughts would be on how long I had to drive the thing before I wouldn’t get killed on the trade in. Especially since change is in the air. The coming recession and a massive repo season is in the future. Making the use vehicle market saturated. And the chip shortage yesterday’s news. The vehicle crazy person is on hold.

I paid sticker for 2 vehicles in my life. A 94 impala ss and an 01 Acura intagra type r. Both considered specialty vehicles. When the Camaro came back I traded the impala for a new one. Cost me TTL. Still have the Acura at 4 times the value. Few people love vehicles more than me. I love early retirement better. Ultimately I’ve owned every vehicle I’ve desired. I’m not one for regret. If you can live with your purchase that’s all that matters. Oh by the way,  when is the demise of the truck V-8? I haven’t read about it anywhere.

I do not know when is the end of v8 but given what is going on right now and how hard the left is pushing the green new agenda and emissions restrictions won’t be long b4 the lovely v8 are gone 😞, Chrysler will be killing the hemi soon, thy already have inline 6 turbo coming, and we all know about how hard ford is pushing the eco boost motors, I’m sure GM will drop suddenly the v8 knowing who is in charge of GM …..

I like "YOU" am a huge car guy.  I sold my 19 High Country because I foresee what's coming and it's NOT good. My advice to anyone is put as much Way in savings as possible

Now, I still like driving the lots and yesterday stopped at Billion Auto and they had a 2022 Sierra SLT crew cab with a 5.3L and 10 Speed for $70k!!!!!   That's outright insanity. My 2018 Sierra SLT with 6.2L and 8 speed was $57k msrp, they had $12,500 off on it and i got it for $45k without trade  just 4 years ago. You're telling me this so called new fantastic interior and a nip and tuck to the front end is worth $25k more. Oh h@ll no!!!

Yes the "person" in charge right now is a complete disaster!!!  Also a huge leftist. It's a complete shame because GM is known for their V8s and they have a plethora of them to still easily compete with turbo sixs.

The real shame is the Camaro. Ford atleast updates their Mustang and gave it an all new redesign with upgraded motors and all old Mary does is increase price of the Camaro, decrease availability, and turn it into an 4 door electric sedan in 3 years.  What a joke!!

My favorite run of trucks was 01-06, GM 1/2 tons. The Avalanche was top of that. They all have glitches. I can easily manage my 02 Avalanche. Doesn’t mean I’m not looking for the next deal. Crazy time will have to pass first.

I totally understand the inflation situation. All the MORE REASON not to BUY and pay those prices. Put the pressure back on the automakers and stealerships marking up these trucks.

Mine is the C/K body style. I found a really nice bodied one and I am driving that till son drives in about a year. Adding mods as I go.

Two weeks ago CARPROUSA radio show reported that 300K vehicles so far are slated for repo. There’re a little more motivated because of use vehicle prices.

There’s one down the road from me I’m avoiding it. My brother has a few 79 dodge trucks. He’s planning on rebuilding. He has an original little red. He usually overbuilds. Most are low mileage city trucks. One is even propane. Runs like a top. I may scoop one up.

I am patiently and eagerly waiting for this recession to hit. I am putting money away each month. Hopefully by next April-sh we are in full swing and I am going to search the U.S for a new Camaro Convertible. I am torn between the 2SS or a ZL1.  Idk if the supercharger is worth $25k.  When I can mod the 6.2L with cam, heads, exhaust, and e85 tune for about $12k and have an all naturally aspirated beast and still have $12k in bank.  But man do I love that front end of the ZL1.
