Great news, thank you for the update Will!

Just talked to my dealear, they don't have any update yet from GM Canada.

Where did you get the part, Will? I wonder if I could order it online and have it installed by my dealer.

Dealer called today and is trying an aftermarket Bluetooth system for the 3rd time.

apparently they discussed a buyback on my truck but it now has over 3000 km on it. So it doesn’t qualify anymore. They don’t have the initial visit on the issue documented 1 week after purchase with less than 1000km.

getting angry. @GMCustomerServiceis really not helping by saying leave it in the hands of the dealer.

who is paying for my lost work time and travel back and forth to get this sorted.

I now am asked to drive 1.2 hrs to the trailer store to get a system in to bypass my gm system…  and if I could tow my trailer there it would definitely help. Nope not through the city with no brakes! AM I THE CRAZY PERSON!!!

So my dealer got this for me today- from Curt.
also found this by looking up the part.
convenient it’s a genuine gm part now lol.

I tried it with my trailer tonight around the country block and it seemed to function properly.

the truck recognizes there is a trailer there for lights and such- but it doesn’t read there are trailer brakes thus not activating the gm trailer brake system.

This product does it all through Bluetooth and sends the signal to your phone. Not happy that to manually apply the trailer brakes is by phone access and to adjust all settings you have to do by phone access (instead of the gm controls that I paid for) but it at least gets me back on the road and back on the jobsite with my trailer.

take this for what it is.
-camvap recommend not using a third party system as you are bypassing the gm system and it could come back on you for warranty or liability if an accident was to happen.
might also affect a buyback option.

all my local dealers are now panicking as this is starting to rear it’s ugly head and there are no fixes and people are flooding in with issues. The one dealer had 3 or 4 angry customers just today alone.
thanks @GMCustomerServicefor not helping or taking any responsibility in the issue!

ive contacted all my local authorities and media !

Hi @Vwnik,

Looks like you are also in Canada.  I have reported the brake controller issues to Transport Canada, hoping they will help with this, but I don't see any news about our issue on their website. Please don't hesitate to do the same, more complains will most likely put more pressure to fix this issue. Here is the link to the online defect complaint form: https://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/7/PCDB-BDPP/fc-cp.aspx?lang=eng. It takes about 5 minutes to fill.

The service manager replied to me this am.  He gave me part number 84488395.  This looks like a legacy part number upon web search.  I wonder if there was a bad batch or something...

Hey thx for this update.  You feel like this fixed things for you?  Having same issue on 2022 Silverado 1500 Trailboss.  Calling dealer again first thing tomorrow to push for this...  Hope this is it.  Getting ready for camping season.

Having the same issue.  Communication on this topic is unacceptable as it is widespread and a critical component expected for towing larger trailers.  Please add me to the list and

I am going to take truck in next week with the same fix replacement controller. I gave them the part number through this message board, let's hope that it works and we can all move on from this most unfortunate situation.
