Spark plug choices

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I am fixing to order a new set of spark plugs and plug wires. I was looking at some Magnecore wires but didnt know about the plugs? Maybe some NGK's. I will be ordering through Tbyrne. Also, did you guys leave the spark plug heat shields? Or just remove them?

Thanks,

Chad(Flodine)

I'm going to put some Iridiums in when I put the blower on. Not sure whether to use colder or stock heat range though. I seem to recall Magnuson said stock heat range but I will double check first. Does anyone know for sure? Truck is an 03 6.0L 4X4 1500HD

As for spark plugs, NGK has a good quality plug & the copper ones are so cheep it wouldn't hert to buy them & try them. With spark plugs the rule of thumb is for every 100hp you add you need to run one step colder plug & tighten up the gap but that is just a starting point. I believe you just have to try to run the hottest plug & biggest gap without having any spark knock to get the most power. As far as the plug wires, I have been running magnecore plug wires for about 30k miles with no aluminum heat shields & ASM headers with no problems what so ever.
