Full sized EV pickup

So $7500 consumer tax credits, billions in government-to-manufacturer subsidies, and ever-increasing CAFE standards isn’t the government forcing anyone’s hand?

As far as climate change, maybe I’d believe Al Gore and the rest if a single one of their predictions came to be.

EVs are just the newest way for that crowd to line their pockets.

@custombossAlso, you can get the Hummer EV which is extremely off road capable. Be sure to enjoy that EV tax credit while the manufacturers just happened to raise their prices by that same amount. Scam.

I am at a point in my life were I can not see spending $90 thousand on a gas truck, let alone a $100 thousand plus on a electric one.

I have had new or relatively new Chevy trucks since I was 18 years old. (probably close to 20 of them) I guess time has passed me by.

We disagree. I can't afford a Hummer and it was not in production August when I ordered the TB.

AEI is demonstrably wrong in light of current events.

As far as subsidies nothing is as subsidized like the fossil fuel industry in US for 100+ years.

Don't move to Jackson, MS anytime soon or Eastern KY.  Climate brutality is coming to us all soon.

I'm not promoting EV's, I like the idea of them and fewer moving parts.  Just because one shares facts doesn't mean they promote it.

I live in reality not culture war anger generating polarization.  The same folks complaining here about EV's will embrace them in 5-10 years and be figuring out how to make them faster etc.

Buggy whips anyone??

It’s amusing when I listen to CARPROUSA radio show on Saturday when he updates how many Tesla’s are being sold at auction with very low mileage. The doctors, lawyers etc realize real quick how inconvenient it is living with them. They can afford to dump them and they do. I wonder how long Californians will put up with the rolling blackouts from green energy. And not being able to charge their electric cars. Especially after 2030. I have no idea what your culture war hang up is. No don’t explain it to me I’m not interested. It’s about convenience and price. You claim to be informed check out the process of getting the metals for the batteries. I’ll stop now. We’ve been down this road before.

Reminds me of Tar Baby.

I’m no EV expert. I know R&D level fuels and lubricants science. However I’ve been retired 3 years. So no doubt I’m behind on latest tech. When you reply to someone but don’t want an explanation that’s a special kind zippity do dah kind of response.
I can observe ,read, and comprehend  without implicit bias.
Your constant injecting of culture wars BS into your comments demand a reply because as always it’s a point of view many have without them knowing they are falling for BS.
Stick to science and facts and you’d get a lot less pushback.

Interesting comments and please continue to keep respectful.  I'm fine with going EV and it would be great to hear from those who have tried/purchased a full sized EV.  The infrastructure is in place for my needs and I plan to do most of my charging at home. I have mapped out a few longer trips and don't anticipate running out of charge options.  I live on Vancouver Island and the other day I was following a Tesla with California plates.  I found this quite supportive of my desire to follow through with a Silverado EV (WT) 🙂

Just because it had California plates doesn't mean he drove it from there, it could have been shipped.

Ain’t know cultural war. It’s the facts. Easy to look up. I ain’t doing the work. Mining batteries metals, mine blowing. I may buy electric some day if it works for me. When Obama moves from the coast among others I’ll believe global warming.

You know if the OP wants one and it fits his life style it’s a free country. I don’t care if it has a carbon foot print like my 70 Chevelle did. I don’t believe in man made climate change. I do believe electric in all its glory may pollute just like a Prius. If my wife wants an electric for her next sports sedan great. She never leaves town 18 miles a day. It would be perfect for her. I would buy it and drive it for the performance.

Apologies Stan I’m falling into Poki territory. 😂

I looked up tar baby. I take your meaning as something hard to get away from. This is true. Unfortunately the jury will be out on electric for awhile. I have to be wary of low blood sugar. Enhance and a side effect of blood pressure meds.

The climate crisis doesn't care what we believe

Well, you did read the early post of all the climate end of the world claims in the last 70 or so years, correct? Onthereal in case you missed it. You get tired of all the (experts) claims after awhile. You know what I mean? 😝

Perhaps, but tourists from California are a common sight and it's a beautiful drive.  I wouldn't hesitate to take a Tesla on a long road trip.   Of course, every vehicle has to arrive by ferry to Vancouver Island so it would've been shipped part of the way!
