Fuel pump issues on 1/2ton pickup

Recommended Posts

I just had my 2017 Silverado stall on the interstate in TX. The mechanic was telling me that he is seeing a rise in fuel pump failures with this extreme heat. I drive my truck through lots of dirt roads so I am wandering if the fact that this trucks do not have gas caps has anything to do with the the fuel pump failures. Is anyone driving in city roads seeing the same issues?

I'm curious how many miles on your truck. No, I have not seen a rise in FP failures here on the forum. You should have 2 pumps, a low pressure in the gas tank & a high pressure on the engine. I have heard of pumps going bad on the gas tank due to the corrosion at the top of the gas tank. Not sure if this is mostly in the salt belt or not.
