6.0 supercharging options for tow

Recommended Posts

I have a 1999 Chevy 2500 6.0. It has a 2001 6.0 engine in it. It is drive by cable and I would like to keep that if possible because I don’t have the know how to change it. I really wanted a whipple but that can’t be ran on drive by cable. So what are the options I have for drive by cable and how hard would it be to switch to electronic throttle body if no other good options present themselves.

Sorry to say this, but if you aren't able to convert from cable to wire, are you able to take on adding a supercharger? The 6.0 makes plenty of power to tow up to the maximum rated towing of your truck.

You can't switch to electronic throttle body, not without a ton of other changes.

You can run a Maggy TVS1900 blower on a drive by cable. Even though their website only lists 2003+ with drive by wire it would literally take minimal effort to make the cable throttle body work, likely just need to make a bracket for the throttle cable.

2003's are return fuel systems like the 99-02's are. But the only downside is that their tune wouldn't work on your computer, so it would have to be a custom tune done by a shop and won't be as plug and play.

I completely understand what your saying my issue isn’t per say the installation of the supercharger I believe I can do that my issue is i have no experience with switching computers although However I do have some experience with forced induction but I will be getting a shop to tune it.

I was planning on getting a shop to do the tuning anyways I feel as that may be smarter to optimize performance thanks for the supercharger I like that one.
