should I turn off AFM again after new lifters installed

Recommended Posts

Going to get my truck after the lifters failed 2x.  It was fixed 3 days and 1 lifter failed again.  Finally getting it back and the shop recommends leaving AFM on.  He has philosophy if something is not being used that is deigned by engineers to be working all the time it will break sooner.   I had my afm disable at 8000 miles after installing my Corsa exhasut and then lifters failed at 55,000.  I only commute 3 miles to work each day.  I was going to start changing the oil more often and not go by the oil life monitor which was putting me at 1 year changes.

Any GM tech on hear with their thoughts.  Should I disable the afm again or leave it on.

I was planning on getting a new truck in about a year so that is why I didn't invest more money and do a full AFM delete with ls7 lifters and new cam.

Thats my thought.   It would be the same as the LT1 engines in the Camaro and Corvette manual trans cars with V8s all use collapsable lifters in the engine but factory tune has DOD or AFM disabled.  The same engine is used with auto trans cars but the AFM/DOD is active in the factory tune.
