Why does no one compare 2.7 vs 3.0...turbo motors?

Recommended Posts

i spent 6 months test driving all the big 3 pickups in search of what was going to be my next truck. i had a 2014 chev that i put 180k miles on and it was almost problem free. i really did like the dodge but a new truck that has rattles in the cab just  turned me off . the ford was also great to drive but it just didnt feel right. i have 4 friends with brand new gm's that all sat at the dealership for weeks because of lifter failures, not buying a gm v8. so i went and test drove a chev rst with the 2.7. i was impressed at how well it performed, so i bought it. now after 3k miles i can honestly say it is better on gas than my 5.3 was. does it compare to a v8, in most of my driving it does it job well. but it does lack a little in towing and when it comes to getting out and passing on a 2 lane road is where i miss the v8. after you get past the fart can noise of the exhaust when starting off , it is pretty quiet and does cruise along pretty effortlessly. time will tell on the reliability of this engine but for 60 percent of pickup truck owners it is all you really need

Maybe I need new hearing aids because mine makes no noise at all. Is yours the 430 TQ HO version?

I’m surprised they don’t add the V-8 sound effects. Or a choice of sounds. I’ll pick the old playing card in the bicycle spoke.

Holy hell Stan you brought up a memory that I did back then with the playing cards in the spokes I also did balloons in the spokes also they had a deeper sound but didn't last long.

I was next one of those 2.7 motors yesterday, truck was fairly new maybe a month or 2 and you could tell it was a 4 cylinder when he took off.

I stuck my foot in there once to see what would happen. Some things you do just once.

Great post. Mine sounds more like a big block sewing machine at start up lol. I love the hint’o’whistle driving it. As for towing passing acceleration, I would bet more of that difference was sound than actual speed, v8’s definitely sound faster.😉

That’s what my dad would say.

You got your foot in there I got my hand in there trying to adjust the card in my spokes from the back side of the forks while riding that didn't turn out good either. I just knew my dad was calling me a dumbass without saying it.
