P-rated Duratrac Tire Pressure?

Hello, I recently purchased metric 275/65/R18 116SL (Not LT’s) duratracs. Truck was born with P265/65/r18 at 35 PSI. Shop set my new tires at 38 psi which seems kind of stiff for a Non-LT tire. For those of you with P rated duratracs (or 116SL rated tires in general), what pressures have you been running? Using this website (https://tiresize.com/pressure-calculator/)

it’s saying that I should run 32 psi (!) to match the OEM spec for load capacity and tire wear. 32 psi seems way too low, even if it can support the same load. 

I read on here that the midnight edition 1500’s recommend 38 psi in their factory P265/65/R18’s duratracs. Can anyone confirm this? If this is what I’m supposed to run in mine then so be it. I called multiple shops and got multiple different answers but none below 35.

Just run 35psi then. It really doesn't matter because once the tire warms up it'll be at 38-40psi or at 35-36psi if you set it lower than 35psi cold.

 

I don't have those tires but my tire pressures changes all the time, could be 70 degrees one day and 90 degrees the next, it changes my pressures just because of that. Add in humidity and that changes things even more. If my tires have over 32psi I don't even care anymore.

Not too low, my truck calls for the tires to be set at 30 psi.  Run them a few psi less than your door sticker says and watch for wear as you rotate them.

 

My NHT Sierra calls for different pressures front and rear.  38 psi out back.

I am running p-rated Cooper Rugged Treks which are similar to the duratracs. Seemed the outsides were wearing a little faster during the first 7k miles so I have since bumped them up to 38

Makes sense. I have not had them long enough to see how they wear, but I did confirm elsewhere that the stock 265/65/18 Duratracs on the midnight editions do in fact call for 38 psi in lieu of the 35 psi for the regular all season tires. Must be for better wear if the engineers spec’d the stock Duratracs out for 38 psi from the factory. Thanks.

GM spec'd 38psi in the 265/65R18 Duratrac they used on the 14-18 trucks.  On Trail Boss/AT4 with 275/65R18 Duratrac they spec 41(?) psi but those are LT C load.

I do find it interesting that they spec’d those 265/65 duratracs so high even though the load capacity for that size and load rating (114SL) caps at 36 psi. Wonder if it’s something specific to those duratracs, softer sidewalls perhaps.
