Upper Control Arm for 2016 Silverado

Recommended Posts

I’m helping my father replace the upper control arms on his truck. The previous ones were shot. I’ve not done much of these myself but the upper ball joint looks wrong and the previous Ball joint had the rubber wore in the same area this is squished. This was with a jack under it. The parts store gave him a Moog RK80669. Any help would be appreciated.

Aight, if you see in the picture we have the upper control arm on but it’s the angle/the way the rubber is compressed on the knuckle that doesn’t look right.

Kinda is what it is.all the ones I have seen are the same. Even worse with guys who do cheap lifts like pucks.

I swapped my uppers a year or two ago a d the boot is ripped.just keep them greased and roll on😁

Moog is one of the better brands to go with so you all are good there.

I see two problems here.  Problem #1 is you've got the wrong upper control arms, at least from looking at that lower stamped arm.  When replacing any of the control arms for 2007-2018, you must look at what you've got from the factory.

If you have cast (often referred to as forged) arms, they have a different size ball joint than the aluminum and stamped arms, which both of those two share a ball joint size, which again, different than the cast arms.

The arm you have is for cast arm replacement, and not the stamped or aluminum arms.  If going with Moog, you need RK623125 and RK623126 which are for stamped or aluminum factory arms.

Second issue, the leveling kit I can see at the bottom of the strut.  Ideally, you should get upper arms that have better ball joint angles as the stock arms don't hold up the best long term with a level.
