Hey. Tranny blew. In order to cover it under warranty, they wanted me to swap the cold air intake back to stock and return the computer back to stock. Could either contribute toward tranny failure?

Did you have it tuned?  Or just the intake?

If you just have the intake, the intake can't really be blamed on trans failure.  If you have it tuned, yea, the tune would cause warranty issues.

I’ve tuned every vehicle that I owned. Before electronic tunes bigger carburetors, exhaust advanced the distributor and used premium fuel. B&M shift kits for the transmission. With electronic tunes removed 50 percent TM. Raise shifts points and RPMs. Some got blown Vortec or whipple. Lost second gear once, my fault. Trailblazer ss. I programmed second gear to shift early in drive for long burnouts. I couldn’t resist, it was bad ass. The only problem I ever had using tunes or free flow intakes. If you absolutely abuse a vehicle it will break with or without a tune. Same with faulty parts. I have 40 years experience with that.

As far as GM is concerned then, your truck would have aftermarket ECU calibrations and would be a warranty block.  I would flash it back and hope the dealer can still take care of you under warranty then.
