Oil soleniod stuck off......

Issue been going on for awhile comes up as Po6dd code. Truck is a 2016 Sierra L83. It's intermittent, DTC was on, made appointment at dealer- get there the light goes off, no code. On the way home 2 miles later DTC back on. Getting lousy gas mileage which I believe is a result of the valve/ solenoid being stuck off which causes the oil pump to go into high volume/ pressure mode. Also using oil more noticeably, over filling intake manifold. I read somewhere and wanted to ask and verify- were the oil pump solenoids/ valves upgraded/ updated like around 2017? Or is it still luck of the draw? An could having DOD tuned out have an impact on said solenoid becoming stuck? I'm on the fence about trading up to something a bit newer...
