Gas is going down Yeah!!! …. Wait … midterm election is coming…

I say by midterms gas will be close to where it was before it started going up that way they can say we did something to try and get the votes which is way too late. There done which is a good thing.

They can set up polling places right next to the soup lines. 😂

Gassbuddy reports inventories are up (but of course goes without saying because no one is filling up anymore) so prices should be going down... right?

Yes! A working model for "Demand Destruction". People have more power than they think in these matters. :)

Yes the driving season no less. People are like yea gas is slowing coming down. Residual effects so does our economy. Inflation, starvation, high interest rates. What’s not to like? I’m really getting excited rolling blackouts. Green energy, you like?

Facts are a hard thing to get around........

only because Texas was dumb enough to reduce their electrical generation capacity.  I'm watching this happen in Florida too.

FPL is replacing old steam plants with smaller gas turbine generators, 7 replacing 3 in many cases.  On top of that, they are putting in 75 megawatt solar farms of 400-600 acres as well.  Stupid doesn't even begin to describe this.  Treachery does.

Hmmm,  Abbott say's he increased capacity in Texas by 15%. That may translate to 2% in actuality.

I know nothing about Florida's grid . I suspect 7 gas generators vs 3 has something to do with dispersing power generation for hurricanes?  I put DeSantis in the same boat at Abbott. Abject hacks when it comes to policy driven by reason.  They'll do anything to keep their base confused and angry and from the comments on this board it's working.

Treachery, I agree in both cases.  I moved from Texas and glad I did. Wish my kids would leave too.

I don't know that Florida's governor has the power to tell FPL how to generate electricity.

No, they are doing away with boilers and steam turbine generators for smaller gas turbine generators.  So they need 7 GTGs to do the work of 3 STGs including down time for maintenance.  From my unlearned observations, the GTGs also require even more cooling water than the old set up.  They also claim to be more fuel efficient but in my experience that has never been so.  The units are much smaller, requiring more of them to do the same work as the old turbines and while the old plants were designed to run two up and one down for maintenance, I reckon they are going to have 2 or more of the new units down for replacement or maintenance.  On paper, the new plants generate more power, along with the 400-600 acre 75 MW solar farms.  Another boondoggle.

As for DeSantis, you sound like his opposition and are projecting.  That article jives with my observations.

Every chance he gets. It’s almost like he’s a plant to change hearts and minds. Right after the freeze debacle here in Texas a report laid the blame at renewables. Some at gas line freezing. That was fixed easily. You can’t make artificial wind or sun. What they don’t want people to realize. Snow and ice can cover solar panels and stop windmills. I’m still seeing 3.98 gas here.

There is BIG money to be made manufacturing and constructing solar & wind farms. 😉

My son just started selling home solar through an alarm company. He’s making a killing. They pay for themselves with a little extra. They finance for 25 years. At the end of that time there’re at 80 percent efficiency. So if you live long enough it’s a good deal. Of course that’s about the time you need a new roof.

Old news and you are wrong again, Texas is an abject failure on its own grid. You are probably about to find out in the heat of the summer, like you did in the freeze of the winter.

I guess the question for us all is why are we struggling to supply appropriate power and fuels?

Maybe we are too dependent on fossil fuels?

Energy policy to slanted towards fossil fuels?

Do we agree that climate change is a thing or just a BS political move?

All our complaints here about fuel costs are based on those questions and how we view them.

Stan I am just countering your biased mis-info best I can. Its not personal you are just Koolaid ingesting and I suggest staying away from Jim Jones types.

Having worked in the lubricants and fuels industry for 42 years before retiring I can tell you that US is dependent on fossil fuels still.  We need to diversify and use the technologies that work to counter dependence on those products. Its why we are whining here about gasoline costs. It matters.
