Clip/Slip-on tow mirrors

Recommended Posts

2022 Sierra 2500 SLE.

After ten years of driving a Sierra with the big (elephant ears) tow mirrors, and due to the new truck also being a daily driver, I decided to replace (at time of placing order) the new truck tow mirrors with regular mirrors. Further, it was my intention, for the next couple years, to use clip/slip-on mirrors when pulling the trailer (not very big, not very wide). Two vehicles ago, this is the system we used and it worked fine.

However, I am finding it more difficult than I expected to get the correct fit. Not sure if it has to do with the newness/style of the truck or what (most sites either do not list the proper size or state a generic "19 and up"). I just had to return a set that I just picked up, which were promoted to fit this truck, because they were (way) too short. And as most sellers are via the web, I don't want to repeatedly order/return product.

So, I am wondering if one of the problems is my lack of precise info on the truck mirrors, which leads me to a couple questions:

- Are regular replacement mirrors specific to the '22 2500, or are they just regular 1500 mirrors made to fit on the 2500 (so if I order '22 1500 mirrors, which seem more available)?

- Does anyone know what the RPO code may be for the 2500 regular mirrors, so I may specifically reference this code when I correspond with various sellers?

As I have gone through months of mis-information and lack of knowledge with the dealer on ordering the truck, I would prefer to not deal with them for this info, unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks for any help you may offer,

Marv

Depending on when my truck comes in, I have some of the molded slide over mirrors I'll be getting rid of if you're interested, however they are still much smaller compared to HD trailering mirrors.

RPO Code on my 2019 w/regular mirrors was DLF. You'd have to check part numbers to see if they're the same though.

This is from the equipment group book for the 2500HD

Normal Mirrors: DWI / DLN

Trailer Mirrors are: DBG / DZC / DUD

mandrewbot3k,

Thanks for the response and effort to obtain the couple pages you attached. Looks like I have the DLN code mirrors. As to your offer of the slide over mirrors, I will continue my search here and if unsuccessful, may very well give you a shout (although I am in need fairly soon as we will be heading down to Denver in June).

And, can you advise where you located the couple pages of codes. I am looking for a full code list for my truck, but have only been able to find incomplete, old or unrelated codes.

Thanks again,

Marv

no problem. The mirrors I have are from etrailer and made by longview... theses ones show they're compatible with the HD. They're a great place to order from and pretty quick with the shipping. 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Towing Mirrors - Longview (etrailer.com)

This is where I got the RPO codes. You can generate the book by clicking the year, then ordering information, chevy truck, then click print book and there wil be a pop-up that allows you to generate your own book with whatever info you want, including RPO Codes.

Hi Marv,

have you tried calling the folks at eTrailer.com?  I've worked with them on other items for a '22 Chevy, and they've been very honest & helpful.  Might be worth a call.

Another option would be to find someone local with a 3D printer, to see if they could print out a couple of adapters to mate your current slip on mirrors with your new truck.

Hope this is helpful, and Happy Camping!

mandrewbot3k,

Thanks for the follow-up reply. Great link for the codes and a good read.

During my initial searching, Longview was one of three brands which I thought may be compatible with my truck. See my comments further down-page.

sheath,

Thanks for the suggestion.

Since my last post, I have ordered a set of CIPA mirrors from a local shop, although they have to be brought in from the warehouse in a neighbouring province, so will see if they fit when they arrive. If not, my next option will be etrailer.

Thanks again,

Marv
