6.0 Motor Swap

Recommended Posts

A friend gave me a 2011 2500 HD farm truck with a bad transmission. I've got a 2004 Chevy Tahoe with a 4.8 in it now. My question is. Am I able to swap motors? 2004 Chevy Snapchat-1643707673.thumb.jpg.45d2a3690af7dc10bea03d8f66b4e5fb.jpg4.8 swap to a 2011 Chevy 6.0

Could you, yes but it's not a direct swap.

2004 is a GEN 3 engine and 2011 is a GEN 4 engine. There is a ton different between the two.

Crank/cam triggers are different, the cam sensor is in a different spot. That 6.0 has VVT so it would need to be deleted with a non VVT camshaft and different cam cover/parts. The knock sensors are in a different spot and a few other things are different between the two.

I am about to do a gen3 lm7 into a 2008 silverado with a v6 in it, ive read its not possible but i dont think thats the case, it looks like all i would have to do is change out the crank to a 58x cam sensor to a 4x drill and tap the gen4 knocksensors to the side of the block and lay the harness down to see which sensors plug in and which dont to switch those out and plug it in to the ecu and to the fuse box and everything ive researched says it should work and the gauges and everything should work as well but idk 🤷
