Intellihaul vs. advanced trailering option

Recommended Posts

Right now I'm looking at going from my '19 1500 LT up to a '22 2500/3500 and I keep ending up in the LTZ/High Country trims just to get some of the safety features I want. However, I'm trying to figure out if the intellihaul 2.0 is the same actual system as the advanced trailering camera setup, or if it's different, just integrated? Seems that I could go down to an LT with conv. pkg 2 to get the IOS and use the intellihaul just fine, but not have the 360 surround vision?

All comes down to dollars here, but trying to see what I can make work with the LT as I prefer cloth to leather, lol.

Pardon the thread drift here:

I can’t answer your question about intellihaul, but I noted your comment about preferring cloth seats. I like cloth seats as well, but when I was making decisions when ordering my 2021 GMC 3500hd I found the lower seat trims very uncomfortable, and was forced into leather bucket seats to get seats that were comfortable for me. The seats themselves - not just the upholstery - are different with the different configurations. Make sure you actually sit in what you plan to order before you decide. Good luck with all the decisions.

Intellihaul 2.0 is aftermarket from Echomaster.

Echo Master's site - Wireless Trailering Camera for General Motors Trucks (echomaster.com)

Instructions - index.php (echomaster.com)

Intellihaul 2.0 does work with the factory radio, but not with the Advanced Trailering Package camera system.  It is its own system with its own modules and wiring.

On an LT, you need to order an LT with option code UVN Bed View Camera in order to have the plugs for adding the GM cameras to the truck.  UVN requires the truck to have the U1D Advance Trailering System which is part of either the ZL6 Advance Trailering or the PCM Convenience 2 package, which PCM includes U1D.

Thanks! Perfect information. The one I'm going to look at doesn't have the UVN, but does have the PCM and also the PQB Safety Package. But I'm not seeing the bed camera. I'm wondering if that can be retrofitted though like the folks have done on the 1500 for the rear view mirror display. Replace the third brake light w/harness and good to go? maybe? no? lol.

Appreciate the info.

That's a good point. I've had two vehicles in the past with leather and just kinda hate the sticky and the maintenance, haha.

I currently have the jet black cloth in my 2019 1500 so I assume it's the same and I've been happy with the comfort so far (18k).

I'm checking out a pretty well-equipped LT tomorrow so we'll see how it goes.

Well, you may be able to add the bed view camera, but then you would still be missing the wiring and the trailer receptacle.  And I don't think anyone has found a way to add in those, more specifically, the wiring from the camera module (or radio, wherever they go) to the back to plug into the receptacle that has the trailer camera ports.

well... i ended up going for the well-equipped LT, which saved me some cash from going high country, but most importantly, saved me time. It's due for delivery this week week (they tracked the truck to the freight carrier about an hour away on friday)

I tend to like cloth seats as well.  Typically i buy the upfitted LT versions or XLTs if I am going ford.  By doing this I have found you can get about 95% or more of what the LTZ and above has or even the same and save 5-10k with the only thing missing is stickers
