Wire routing - Cabin to Underhood ??

Recommended Posts

Hello, All -- New guy here.

2021 Silverado 1500 W/T

I am trying to learn the best location to route a wire from under the dash to under the hood.  ....The wire has an approx 5/16" diameter plug on the end (which can not be removed, cut or spliced).

Any suggestions?   ....I am not opposed to drilling a hole, but I don't want to cause any problems by hitting plenums, ducts, a/c, heater core, hoses, etc.

I have read many of the other threads, but don't see any suggestions.  ....Thanks for any help you can provide.

I'm looking to do the same for a rear camera mounted on my Lear Truck cap. In my case I probably need to route under the floor. That said I need to find a good location for 12V and ground under my dash. Let me know of any suggestions.

Go to https://www.gmupfitter.com/technical-bulletins/?_sft_category=2020&_sfm_technical_bulletin_vehicle=Silverado%2FSierra&_sfm_technical_bulletin_type=1500 and read the section titled Power Cable installation/routing on page 4 and see figures 6 and 7.

If I can run a cable into the cab you should be able to run one out.

For PBrown1: you can a cable through the floor pan on the driver's side.
