Service Charging System Vehicle May Stall

Recommended Posts

So dealer drove it here from about 250 miles away. I was at work so my father in law and wife drove it before signing. Didn’t have any issues. As soon as they left that message came on. I told my wife not to drive I and I would look at it when I got home. I started it up and it’s gone. Drove it about 10 miles. Brought it home. Have fired it up about 3-4 more times. Nothing. Very bizarre.

Bummer, on such a new truck, hope you still have warranty. This website has a good summary on the warning and a home test:

Better be under warranty. It is brand new. Just took delivery yesterday. I will have to dig around and see if I can find my volt meter.

So I went to fuel up. When I was done truck wouldn’t start. Tried to turn over for about 20 seconds each time and wouldn’t. Dash lit up like a Xmas tree. Had Chevrolet assistance sending a tow truck which was supposed to show up an hour and a half later. Finally after about 45 mins I had an idea. I pressed the start button without holding the brake pedal and opened the door to try to get it to shut all the way down. It did and after that it fired up first try. I drove it straight to my local dealership and left it there. FML

Just a guess on my part, but when was the truck built? Ask if they had to jumpstart it before your delivery. If it has been sitting somewhere waiting on chips or anything else for a period of time, the battery may have developed "lot rot", just sitting there dead.

Not sure exactly when it was built but the sticker inside the door says 11/21 so in that time frame. Praying it’s just a bad battery.

Would not think a factory battery would hold a charge for almost 3 plus months. When I worked at a dealership in sales, we would burn through portable chargers due to the fact we had to almost always jump something before a demo. We had to actually go out and make sure everything on the lot started each Saturday and Sunday before we opened.

The truck was a dealer demo. It had about 500 miles before they drove it approximately 250 miles to deliver it to us.

Yea, but once again a guess on my part, if the battery is not holding a solid charge, it may be the source. Most times dealer demos (management vehicles) are turned in with a lot more miles, just under 3000. Everyone needs to move cars, never know what is being done. Now, the glass half full portion, you have a full bumper to bumper intact, so let's hope it is something simple and you can get to enjoying your new truck!

By the way, Congratulations!!!

Thanks. Don’t mean to sound like a jerk, but we had a 2020 we loved that got totaled by no fault of our own. After dealing with insurance, rental and finding a new truck this isn’t exactly what I was hoping for. Guess things could be worse…..

GM has always treated me well, glad to hear you were ok after the wreck (looks like they took care of you there by building a good safe truck), you will have your truck up and running as it should soon. Sometimes we just have to be patient, and let the surgeons work on the machines.

Update:

Service advisor said they found a bolt under the fuse box wasn’t tightened down which was causing all the codes to be thrown. However even after tightening that down the battery light is still on. They checked the battery and said it is good. Testing the alternator after lunch.

Лучше на гарантии. Это совершенно новый. Буквально вчера получил посылку. Мне придется покопаться и посмотреть, смогу ли я найти свой вольтметр.

The great news is that the part is new and under warranty, you can avoid a lot of problems, but of course it's worth digging,
I can also offer to get acquainted with different solutions to problems on this page https://truckgift.com/?s=Battery
