Posting for one of the guys.

When using his Phone cord his I phone 10 will not connect.

Tried different cords and still wont play music or maps.

Any help is appreciated

Maybe unpair the phone from the truck in Bluetooth, "forget this device", then pair back up?

My 2014 Sierra quit connecting via the cable years ago. I tried different cables at the time and no change. I did try a friends iPhone back then and it worked so I thought it must be my phone but when I got a new iPhone the same thing, so I just use the Bluetooth connection. These trucks are very glitchy. I really love the look and feel of my Sierra but being mechanically inclined is almost a must to enjoy GM ownership. Maybe someone will chime in with a solution since it seems to be more than one of us that has seen this issue.

Another guess, what trim level is the truck, and how many USB ports does it have? Has he tried all of them with the same results?

Iirc it's a Denali. Yep he has tried both of the ports. They used to work when he got the truck. Used. I was thinking maybe the USB ports need to be replaced.idk

I did have to replace the USB port(s) in the center console on my 2016. It is pretty easy, $60.00 part, 30 minutes or so, and if you drink quick enough, 2 beers.

i found having too many usb cables plugged into all the ports in the cab causes erradic operation of the radio

i found the phone works best in bluetooth mode and use the 110v adapter port to keep phone charged

This is what I do as well but I may look at it again this weekend to see if it will connect.

I have SLE model FYI

Don’t bother, no apple carplay anyway.

just use a usb-c car charger and connect to the car via bluetooth. I also have a 2014 slt which is the same infotainment.

The usb-c charger for the iphone is about 10x faster charging. The built in port I believe only charges at 1/2amp, which is about what modern phones actually use running a map playing music. I’ve had my battery actually go down while plugged into the trucks usb port.

I checked mine out and bamm it is working. My guess is that in the years I have not used it I disconnected the battery and it reset the port ?? Now it may stop working again soon but for now it is good. I was beyond shocked as I finagled it years ago trying different cords, phones, etc before I gave up and just used the bluetooth connection.

try only using the glovebox usb its much more reliable than the ports in the center jump seat compartment,

No ports in the glovebox on a Denali. They are in the center console, under the lid, and then in the very front portion of the center console under the "toggle" switches.
