Doors unlock automatically after manually locking

Recommended Posts

Aside from my truck honking 3 times after I get in and close the door, the doors automatically unlock after I manually press the lock button on the door.

I've always had the habit of getting in my truck and locking the door before starting it up, but sometimes when I get in and press the lock a chime comes on and the doors unlock themselves. This seems kinda dangerous in a situation where someone would want to get in and lock the doors.

Why does it do this, what is the point of it, and how do I turn this off? Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like your spare fob is in the truck.

It's in my safe at home. I know the honking part is because of a scenario explained on another thread, but what about the locking (or I should say, unlocking) part? If the truck thinks the remote was forgotten inside, why does it go the extra step and prevent itself from locking from the inside?

It sounds to me like it is still trying to prevent you from locking the doors without the truck being started. I guess it goes the extra step because that's the way GM programmed it unfortunately. Why not just unlock the drivers door to get in? That way once you are in the only door that is unlocked is the driver door until you start the truck and lock it. Also try pushing the lock lever up by the door on the window sill. It will lock all of the doors as well.

No it's not programmed that way. I can use the passive button or the remote to enter then hit the lock button on remote or door before starting and I get no chirp or unlock.

This is what I'm trying to do. Unlock the driver door to get in, close the door, and lock it by pushing the lock button on the door next to the door handle inside. But the truck doesn't like it. When I do this, the truck unlocks all the doors.

Why does it honk 3 times as explained? It should only do that upon exit with the fob left in but not on entry.  Check all your door lock settings

Let's say I stop to pump fuel. I get out, close the door, and proceed to start the fuel station up and pumping. Then I open the back door to clean some things out and then close it. Then I get back in the driver's seat to wait for the pump to finish. When I close the door, the truck honks 3 times. Then I try to lock the door and the truck unlocks all the doors.

I think I understand why the truck honks because it thinks I'm messing with my truck and then leaving when I close the doors even though the remote is in my pocket. But the really aggravating part is that when I lock the truck using the button inside the truck door itself, it unlocks everything and won't let me lock it.

I can lock mine before start. Just tried it. Go to settings, vehicle and check all lock, remote and passive settings.

I have the same problem. There is no way to lock my vehicle from the button on the inside. It auto unlocks the whole truck after its pressed weather key is near or in the house. Dealer tried to figure it out but couldn't. Basically the inside lock button is for looks.
