Rear Camera View is Always ON when TOWING

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a 2018 2500HD (Australian right hand drive converted) and when I plug a trailer plug in the infotainment screen displays the rear view camera. I am unable to disable this feature so I can use this screen for anything else, I have tried pressing and holding buttons in combos and all to no avail.

I have checked the trailer plug on the truck, and there is nothing there that shouldn't be (additional wires etc).

Can anyone tell me how this is done or how I can disable it? Is this some wizardry with jumping connectors in harnesses or something?

Any help much appreciated!

Mine doesn't do that.  Be nice to know how to turn it on and off.

When you plug the trailer in and the camera pops up, are your reverse lights on as well?  It sounds like the trailer is activating the reverse circuit.  I wonder if the trailer plug is shorted internally and when a trailer is plugged in, its backfeeding on the reverse circuit for it.

Yeah it does not do it standard, it has been modified, just looking to see if anyone knows how its done.

Define “it has been modified”?  What light mod(s) are(were) done?
