Downsizing for fuel savings.

Getting nervous yet? Anyone thinking about the trickle down effect with fuel going up? Some people are brushing it off as no big deal what’s a couple bucks? I don’t drive much except on trips it 80$ per month for me. How about adjusted electric prices? Food etc. 18 miles a gallon vs 30 is big money now.

Fuel cost directly effects our cost of living. I saw this when dems stepped into office and shut down keystone. And just cut off the gas from Russia. 

It is gonna get bad

Way to tank our economy...

My mother in law quit driving last year. She gave us her 2015 CRV with 6K miles on it. My wife was doing and does all her running. She did it anyway. My wife drives a Genesis, me an avalanche. Her car gets pretty good mileage mine doesn’t. So my wife gives me the CRV. I hated it at first. Well it grew on me. At 30 mpg in town my Avalanche is relegated to once a week or less. 25K miles on it now.

20 years ago I was in Malaysia. At stop lights little mopeds with about 3 people on them would all come to the front. Our taxi would have to weave around them until the next light. If you happen to run over one close to their village you’ll be disappeared. Reminds me of my area and bicycle riders on weekends. It’s when the entitled invade on the weekends and take over.

Again Keystone XL was mainly for the Canadians and not for us so much. So yes it would have helped Canadians out a bit but not really us

 

Yes though my coworker is selling his 2021 6" lifted Tundra because of his mpg. Getting a Camry instead he says

There’s only one problem with your analysis. The oil was going to go to our refinery’s. As far as being green. Pipelines are greener than trucking. And freeing up trucks to haul groceries. If it was cheaper and more efficient to truck it. There wouldn’t be pipelines.

The oil market is highly subject to speculators. Opening reserves anywhere drops the price everywhere. The pipeline would have helped us no matter where it was or where it was going (with a few obvious exceptions). You saw this play out in an extreme form back in the good old days while we were fracking here. The Saudi’s flooded the market to make it no longer profitable for us. But the net effect was low prices globally.

Openly hostile domestic policies do the opposite. Connect the dots here.

I am glad you took the time to think this one out as what you just said shows how opening the pipeline would of helped us greatly. 

 

As you state opening one would cause others to flood the market. Thus dropping the price at the pump. 

 

We can a agree to disagree on this whatever. Fact is we will never know given our current situation...

I just wanna know why you never hear about anything if the price per barrel drops or the whole sale price for gasoline drops. Why is that never plastered all over the news unlike when the barrel or whole sale price rises?

 

Oil was as far up at $130 for WTI and gasoline was $3.80. Now they are $109 and $3.28. But at the pump it's been $3.99 for regular and $4.99 diesel for the past several days. It never falls as fast as it rises and anyone with a brain knows that price gouging but yet they all say they aren't doing it...

 

Also I find it rather odd that every single station within a 100 mile radius is the exact same price. I was on the east side, south side and west side of the twin cities today as well as 50 miles south, every single station was the same price. It's like they all got a memo and are sticking to some sort of plan.

 

This was merely to vent because I find it so stupid and we could go blue in the face talking about it.
