Diesel Colorado?

An I-5 turbodiesel Colorado would be my first truck choice. Anyone know if this is being considered by GM?

I REALLY wish GM would give the Colorado a diesel. Isuzu's ability to produce excellent engines could really help the Colorado...I bet they could build a great small DI diesel.

I'm with ya. The only thing we can do is tell GM what we want....so drop them a line and tell them what we would like to see.

isuzu does have a baby duramax but gm does not have any plans YET to put it into the colorado or canyon. Although they are considering it.

not sure, I read it in a gm newsletter not long ago but I cant find it. I know they are using it in the midsize isuzu truck in japan? but not in north america. I think they said it was an inline 5??????

I thought thaat the diesel block would be to heavy for the Colorado/Canyon's. It seems to me that it would only be for the 3/4tonns out there.

I think there is a better chance of a v6 Duramax the a I-5 one. I nice 150hp 4 cyl diesel would play nicely too.

the duramax would definitely be, but they also make diesels alot smaller than the ones that probably come to mind. Mercedes has been putting diesel engines in their cars for a while now.

in Australia and probably some other places (I dunno, haven't checked), they're running 4 cyl diesels and the vehicles way a whole lot less than american vehicles. I'm not talking toyota and stuff, but the Ford and Chevy trucks they have in Australia.

Isuzu could make a aluminum blocked V6 diesel or use a 4 that they already have but I do not think it is likey that there will ever be a diesel in one,

Isn't the Isuzu truck, the D-max, "basically" the same as the Colorado? If so, then check out this thread... http://www.isuzu.co.jp/world/product/dmax/...powertrain.html

Click on Engine/Transmission. That is a beautiful site seeing a diesel between the fenders!

Isuzu/GM shows that it can be done! How about it Mr. Lutz? You imported the GTO...

...well, import the Isuzu diesel and let the good people in Shreveport build them for us!

And, if you do decide to build them, please add a longer bed to the diesel option and I will take mine in RED!

Isuzu had a V6 Aluminum Diesel that was installed in the Saab back in 2001 for European sales. If I remember correctly 175hp and a very compact design.
