Best truck cap?

I am looking to purchase an above cab fiberglass truck cap. I have looked at Leer, A.R.E., and Jason. I have not heard of Jason before and am concerned because they are obviously not as well established in the market as the other 2, I also can't look at them yet because the dealer will not start selling them until late March. Price is not an issue, they are all close enough in price that I am more concerned with quality. Also dealer reputation and service so far isn't an issue. Any problems anyone has experienced with any of these would be appreciated. I live in Upstate NY and truck is kept outside during winter, so if lock or handles are prone to freezing, that would be a great deterrent. This is my first time posting, but have been reading the site for awhile. Thanks in advance.

I bought a Leer 'glass shell for my '93 1500 in 1995. It came color matched and has held up well. It's outside all the time. The only problem I've had is the shocks are starting to lose their lift power. I'm very pleased with it.

That said, I have a friend with a Ford truck and about 2 years after he bought his Leer, there was a delamination problem at the rear of the shell. The dealer and Leer both stepped up and took care of the problem. They sent a new shell and did a quick swap. Leer seemed to be interested in seeing what went wrong. His experience was also positive. Nice to see a company interested in their customers. Hope that helps.

A.R.E. here. No problems, color match perfect, lifetime original owner/vehicle warranty. Only regrets is keeping the factory tinted back glass on the cab, would change to a Breezer Window and boot.

Leer from my 01, now on the 04, needs to be painted

Got quotes of 5-600 for the red from independant body shops and was

told it probably would not hold up for more than a few years.

Leer says 300 and they will bake the finish back on. It will be as good as the

original paint job. Nice to know if you have a good cap and do not need to spend another 1200 for a new one.

Has held up good and looks great. bought it from Meyers Campers

Put a LEER on mine after shoping around. It was the best for the money and I love the way it fits. It has a 1 piece side glass that is almost 8 feet long.
