Tablet Dash Mount

Recommended Posts

Now that suspension work on my truck is almost wrapped up, I've been planning a couple off-road trips and realized it would be useful to have actual satellite/topographic maps pulled up for navigation. Was originally thinking a suction cup or something to the windshield, but I wanted something a little sturdier so the tablet wouldn't come flying off if I hit a jump or am on a washboard road for a while. A follower on Instagram mentioned he was interested in the mount so he could have his work tablet mounted up with all the info he needed. It'll mount to the pocketed tray that's clipped/screwed into the dash.

I'm about to send the files out to get laser cut and bent and will post pictures once I have it installed in the truck. If anyone is interested or has any input let me know and I could probably put together a group buy to bring down the price to have parts made. If you're interested let me know the make and model of tablet as well so I can keep track to get a better idea of pricing. As of now, if a single mount was made it would cost ~$150-170. With a quantity of 4 or 5 the price could probably come down to $110-130.

Thanks for the suggestion. Just checked it out. Looks like a good option, but I'd still be a little worried about it coming loose when I'm driving the truck hard. I'd also like the flexibility to mount a lowrance down the line if I ever feel like upgrading to that. But I'll definitely recommend it to my friend who's just looking for something to hold his work tablet.

Do you have the Chevrolet/GMC Maps+ app in your radio?  That's topographical already.

I don't have the app on my radio, but had no idea it included topographic maps. I'll be sticking with my tablet, because of the flexibility it offers and extra features, but that's definitely good to know

I fly with a table all he time using ram mounts.  Have a yoke and suction mount. That suction mount won’t come off unless you put it on a very curved piece of glass. Ram also sells the balls that could screw right into your dash the same way you’re planning with this.

This is out there also, if it would be easier to build off of...

I was checking that one out, and was definitely considering it. Found another laser shop though that had better pricing for low quantities so I'll be saving some money versus buying that base with a ram mount. I do like the flexibility that base has though
