2022 3500 Roof Beacon Wiring

Recommended Posts

I'm getting a new 2022 3500 with the 6.6 Duramax. It has the camper/snow plow prep package that comes with the auxiliary roof beacon wiring harness, but it isn't installed.

Can anyone help me figure out where it plugs into and where it is supposed to route to? The truck does NOT have the auxiliary switches on the dash.

My new truck does r have the auxiliary switches to the left of the steering column like shown on page 145. I've got an extra wiring harness under the back seat that I was told was for the roof beacon. It was late in the day today so no one in Service was there to point out where the wire installed at. The salesman had no clue.

You will have to install the aux switches. Then pull the headliner down to get to the spoiler bolts and then drill a hole in the spoiler to route your harness to plug into the wiring that is taped up in the spoiler that is powered by the switch #5.

PS... there is a measurement out there online, that will get you close to where you need to drill a hole in the spoiler, to fish the wiring out without dropping the headliner.

I know the oem way would be boss, but if'n it was me I would do the Burford T. Justice trick, and stick it out the window, with a magnetic base on the roof. What else is that cigarette lighter port good for? Don't have ashtrays nowadays.

Thanks for the info.

LOL. I was hoping to be able to route the wiring where I wanted it to go outside to hook up my volunteer firefighter emergency lights.

I'm very sorry, I assumed snow plowing.

Yes, the oem way would be the way I'd go for permanent installation.

Incredibly helpful!

Thank you for finding this video and posting it.

Was really happy to see they include a negative wire as well as positive.  I run a Ham radio, and ground loops are a freakin' nightmare.

Blows me away that GM didn't make the third brake light unit serviceable without pulling the wing.  Two external screws in the light assembly would save a boat load of time.  I think the LT I ordered has incandescent bulbs, so I will probably upgrade to a quality LED at the same time.

Also the way that wing seals with wiring running out through the seal bugs me.  Wonder how that doesn't create a water leak that is going right into the cab.

Thanks again Gayle.
