Tow mirror picture needed and question!

Recommended Posts

My truck is blue, so no pic (except my profile pic).  Agreed with red.  No shaking/vibrating.  Been in some nasty wind and only heard a high pitched whistle from near the mirrors.  It's happened twice, and venting the window where the sound was at made it go away, so I don't think it was the mirrors.  I suspect the culprit is the WeatherTech window visors.

Thanks for the answers about the shaking. I found a guy that is offering aftermarket ones and the wiring (similar to boost where you don’t need a dealer) but my experience with tows were always bad. His vibrate ever so slightly. Looks like I’ll stick with gm made ones and just get the wiring kit. Thanks again.

Got a link to the aftermarkets you found?  Because as of right now its only GM that makes them.  Boost is still "coming soon" and a quick tour of Google found no other aftermarket options for the T1 trucks.

It’s a guy who posted on Facebook in Quebec Canada. No website link. He supplies the wiring just like boost as well.

Hmm.  I'd be concerned because 1500 mirrors and the HD mirrors have different mounts as the doors aren't the same between 1500 and HD.

Yeah, he sells the different ones depending on the LD or HD models. Not sure where he's getting them but I guess this is a first for aftermarket.

I have the 2019 Sierra and wanted OEM tow mirrors. I was told by GM they can't be put on vehicles equipped with lane change or blind spot alert. Same with 2020. I do know the OEM mirrors only require one additional harness.

Tow mirrors were not offered by GM on the 2019 1500's.

In 2019, the HD's were style the older style body and the older style tow mirrors.

In 2020, the HD was updated to the new 'everything'.

The new tow mirrors were released and available for 15/25/35.

Tow mirror offerings in 2020 depended on trim level.

DQS version only available on LTZ and HC

DQS         NEW!  Mirrors, outside power-adjustable vertical trailering with heated and auto-dimming upper glass, lower convex mirrors, turn signal indicators, puddle lamps, perimeter lighting, auxiliary lighting and memory; power folding/ manual extending
1 -  Requires (CWM) Technology Package. Includes (DP9) chrome mirror caps.

DPO         Mirrors, outside power-adjustable vertical trailering with heated upper glass, lower convex mirrors, integrated turn signals, clearance lamps and auxiliary lighting; manual folding/extending
WT -  Requires (PCV) WT Convenience Package or (PEB) WT Value Package and either (Z82) Trailering Package or (ZW9) pickup bed delete. Includes (DD8) auto-dimming inside rearview mirror.
Custom -  Included and only available with (BD1) Custom Max Trailering Package.
LT & RST -  Requires (Z82) Trailering Package. Includes (DD8) auto-dimming inside rearview mirror.
LT Trailboss-  Includes (DD8) auto-dimming inside rearview mirror.

Neither was available on Custom Trailboss

My 2019 Custom NHT (max trailering) came with the tow mirrors, so yes, they were available on 2019 1500’s.

I actually removed them and replaced with new Silverado RST mirrors and had my local body shop paint the top panel to match my black truck and swap them out.
The wiring harness all plugged right in, and my power mirrors work perfectly, so I’d expect the reverse to be true.  And, no, mine never shook at all.

Was that on a K2 or  T1?

It was/is on a T1.  Bought it new, still have it.  There was a second identical truck on the lot at the same time, and they both were 2019’s, albeit very late 2019. Build date was in December 2019.

Although I’ve removed the tow mirrors for RST replacements, I still have them and have pictures with the mirrors both on the lot and in my driveway from the day I bought it in March 2020 right when Covid kicked off and I bought it at an excellent price.

The mirrors were the only thing I didn’t like, lol!

Built in Dec 19 it should be a model year 2020 truck.

10th digit of vin is model year.

K = 2019

L = 2020
