Help. Im making my first hot rod.

20210819_191704.thumb.jpg.07e40d5d94665ca7686b742054093e28.jpgI took out the 1995 5.7 and I'm going old school. A classic 1970 402ci big block. No computer or ABS. I'm making a wiring harness. What wires do I need? I drive a 1997 so that helps. This is my first build.

if you are using GM HEI just a +wire from the ignition switch to the distributor , if you are using external coil + to + coil from i switch . wire from i switch to starter solenoid. depends on alternator how thats wired, I would go with single wire so all it needs is battery connection then you need to do the gauges and tach

Ya, I would agree with that. Power to the coil is always good.

 

If he going to go that far though, then he will need some sort of engine ground wire too I guess. 

 

That opens up a whole can of worms though - because at that point he will need to get some spark plug wires.

 

And battery cables too for that matter.
