In case any of y’all were wondering about putting a x pipe in a 2019 silverado 5.3, here’s why I recommend not putting one in, unless you want it quieter.  I had originally for those who didn’t know, catback true duals to 6” shorty tips and that was perfect. It was the perfect amount of clap and deep tone and I would highly recommend that setup- until I got a ticket and was court ordered to “fix it.”  So I installed dynomax race bullets and threw in x pipe because I was mad and thought that would help.  All the x pipe did was make it less choppy and more of a drone and quieter.  The startup sounds great but other than that its just sad, and barely noticeable inside the cab. I am removing the x pipe in the near future. I’ll upload some clips later but if you want loud a x pipe is not the way to go.  I will say it backfires a lot decelerating in L3, and the low rpm tone is definitely good but its just not loud enough for me.

Yeah, an X pipe will quiet it down.  Not much but it does and it also equalizes the exhaust pulses and is a benefit to the system.  I had one on my 65 Impala SS with the 396 and flowmasters.  Sounded great.

What shop did you exhaust?

Yea it should definitely prolong engine life I would think, but just not worth it for the choppy sound disappearing and it will probably run fine.  I got mine done at Henry’s muffler shop.

I think with the x-pipe removed you'll be a lot happier. If money is no concern you may want to check out https://www.holley.com/products/exhaust/cut_outs_and_multi_mode_kits/parts/71013001-RHKR. You could probably go back to straight pipes. But then again if you get caught while running it loud, doesn't really help you.

Catback exhaust doesn't effect engine life, that's governed by your right foot. X-pipe is great for high rpm horsepower (higher then your truck revs)
