Any suggestions for researching replacement windshield glass part numbers?

Tl;dr: Safelite put a new windshield in my 2021 3500 Denali w/ HUD and now the HUD is blurry. They insist it's the trucks problem because they used the right glass. I can see the glass part number and the stamp in corner says "HUD", but I'm not convinced its actually intended to be compatible with this truck. From what I've read from other people online with similar problems in other makes of cars, this is absolutely a windshield problem because the glass has to be specifically contoured to your make of HUD. I want to confirm for myself that this glass isn't compatible with the truck, but I'm finding it extremely difficult to find this information.

I've tried to look up part compatibility on my own and apparently the auto glass industry keeps their inventory and compatibility a huge secret... I can't find a single website that will show you vendors or part numbers for compatible glass by VIN or make+model, just dozens and dozens of glass companies willing to replace my windshield sight unseen without telling me what they're replacing it with!

 

Any suggestions for how to look up compatibility for the windshield they gave me _or_ find compatible windshields for my truck to compare? For the record, they put a Fuyao DW02500 on my truck. 

 

Oh, and the reason for the windshield is boring. Got a huge rock chip a few weeks ago, and with the cold nights recently a crack formed that covered the entire windshield side to side, and was becoming very disruptive to my FOV when driving. Wanted to get it fixed ASAP, and i'd never had a problem with the quick windshield places like Safelite before... but I guess with a newer car I need to be a lot more particular now.

I have a couple of small stone chips I picked up during the summer.  Don't need a windshield yet but I'm interested in this matter in case I need a replacement later.

Have you had the chips checked to see if they are suitable for having the chip repair process done?

 

Seems many insurance policies have no deductible for this repair as it can prevent crack propagation and potentially of save them the cost of a replacement windshield. (and the vehicle owner the cost of the deductible on a windshield replacement)

I realize this is off topic, but a cracked windshield is not just a visibility concern - it also is an energy absorption concern if something large hits your windshield. Certain things that would be stopped by an intact windshield will come through a significantly cracked one. 
 

The manual says to have the windshield replaced through the dealer to ensure compatibility with the HUD and camera systems.

Not sure what part of Seattle you are in, but I have always used Genuine Auto Glass in Auburn.

They have always been able to get factory glass for me and have never had any problems.

 

Might be worth a shot calling them to see if they could help with the correct glass.

Thanks for the recommendation - I’ll remember that for the future.  I hate the semi-monopoly safelite has with the insurance companies and like to patronize a good private glass place. We had one in Renton for many years but they succumbed. Auburn is definitely close enough for me to use. (By the way, the Auburn Line-x place is great, too. )
 

I may have created some confusion. My windshield is fine. I was commenting to the OP who said they finally replaced the windshield when it cracked all the way across, and then also pointed out the owner’s manual advice.

I read somewhere online, that pre-cracking a windshield is the thing to do. It helps the survival rate of the driver, if they are thrown threw it, in a head-on.

 

Kinda like using tire pressures for headlight adjustment.

Fuyao is an OEM supplier.  GM uses Fuyao on these new T1 trucks.

 

To make sure its an actual GM HUD windshield, the bottom passenger side will have 2 key features printed on the glass.  First, it will have the GM Logo (Mark of Excellence).  Second, the QR barcode, underneath it will have the 8 digit GM part #.  See example below of a non HUD.  

 

If you don't see either of those, it's not from a GM dealer.

I'm sure you checked this but any chance they got something on the HUD Lens in the dash?  Adhesive or some type of interior detailer that could be blurring the display?
