Off road bumper and winch install

Recommended Posts

I am installing a winch bumper and winch on my 2020 GMC 2500 AT4 (diesel engine, crew cab, short box). I figure I am adding about 200 lbs. of weight to the front over stock.  I don't have heavy duty springs on front. I have upgraded to Fox 2.0 shocks all the way around. My GAWR front is 5600 lbs.

I don't know what torsion bars I have based on that but my question is can I adjust those to maintain factory ride height after I install the bumper and winch?  Or would I need to consider upgrading to the heavy duty front springs?

I put a ranch hand legend bumper/grill guard on the front of my truck, it sits exactly the same and rides exactly the same.  Weight differential is probably a little over 200 lbs over the stock bumper.  I have a warn winch with a cradle receiver, I do not keep the winch on the truck, would add another 100 plus lbs.

1. Do you have front parking sensors?

2. Are you lifting your truck?

I haven't found anyone that sells an Off road bumper that relocates the parking sensors for factory height or leveled 2020 + HD truck. I also looked into a brush guard winch setup and they also didn't offer any options for the relocating the parking sensors.

Thanks for info.  I've been talking to Chassis Unlimited (Octane winch bumper).  Very low profile and is supposed to work with sensors and stock height. May require some minor adjustment. I don't plan on lifting my truck anytime soon I actually like the way it sits right now. At most I may go + 1 inch.  I already have the fox shocks that are rated for that.  When current stock tires need replaced plan on bumping up to 35" but that is about it.

That’s a great winch mount. I might have to order one of them.
Thanks,

I would just take a measurement of the front end empty and then with two adults inside. Both before and after. It probably won't budge empty, but may start to show a little more sag when loaded. If it does droop a bit, then turn the keys back up to your first measurements.

Hello,  Have a 2020 AT4, put the ranch hand on as well while waiting for the sensor relocation bar.   If you relocated your sensors did you have to remove the bumper or just the grill assembly?  I tired to get my hand behind the bumper to remove the sensors but there is too much stuff in the way.  Is there a something I'm not thinking of?  Thanks.
